Anyone have any opinions on this set? I am looking for a bigger CRT for my new house but have not seen any Plasmas or LCD sets that have blown me away. I
love my two CRT HDTV sets and have the opportunity to buy one of these 38" sets for 500 dollars. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

It's great set... as long as it works.

Make sure the TV has had the underrated caps replaced.
Many of the 'important' replacements parts are no longer avaliable (or hard to find).
Only one HD input (component).
Very heavy (216 lbs.)

If the matching stand is included and no obvious problems (I.E. the old caps, tuner doesn't work, no visible CRT burn-in, etc.), I'd pay no more than $400.

I still have mine and love it. However I need too upgrade soon mainly because of HDMI and i want something bigger. But as long as the 38310 keeps on ticking I will have it in a different room for eternity.

There is one on ebay but It has 0 bids and they want way too much. I was going to offer him 300 dollars. How does the set compare to a Sony SFP set? Thanks Ratman.

Personally I can't say about comparison to the Sony's. I've had my F38310 since January of 2002 and never regretted it for a minute.

I recently purchased one privately/locally with stand for my son for $400. Considering the built in ATSC tuner, it was is a great bargain.

The one caveat you will need to take into consideration is shipping costs. I'm sure that by the time you factor in those costs (and insurance?) and purchasing 'sight unseen', it's risky. And... could be quite expensive. You could probably buy a new HDTV with more "features/functionality". (although not as large direct view CRT).

Does anyone have any screenshots for eval so I can get a idea how the PQ is? I know the screenshots are not perfect but can help give a idea of how the tv performs. Thanks

Even if the TV was free, I wouldn't pay $700 for shipping. Especially "sight unseen".

I also am looking at a Loewe Aconda which as best as I can tell is the same set without the Directv tuner and has a VGA input. He wants 500 dollars. I am going to offer him 300 and I can drive a few hours to pick it up.

In regard to the Loewe... that's no D* tuner OR ATSC tuner.
