I am looking at going with the PT-AE1000U or the PT-AE2000U. They are both 1080p projectors and the one thing I can notice is that the PT-AE2000U has a higher contrast ratio the biggest benefit seems to be that it's 1500 lumens vs 1100 on the 1000U.

THe PT-AE1000U is around $1500 while the PT-AE2000U is sitting at $2600.

Has anyone upgraded from the 1000U to the 2000U? Is the $1,100 difference worth it?

I guess it probably depends on how picky or how much of a videophile you are. For me personally the upgrade would not be worth it but others may argue differently.

Where are you finding the ae-1000 for $1500? Sounds like a scam site for the price to be that low.

Kurfer -- First of all, discussion of prices (except MSRP) is against forum rules (Read the Rules thread http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=500886) - you can get this thread deleted.

Second, from authorized dealers, the difference is about $500. Be very wary of unauthorized dealers (your warranty would be worthless) and scam artists.

Third, the AE2000 uses the latest, newer, LCD panels (they should be the Epson D7s, but I can't find confirmation of that). It also has a lot more features, connection options, and better performance. Is that worth $500? That has to be your value judgment.

Jeratt -- He's talking about buying one or the other - not upgrading.
