I just bought one, blind buy.

$2499.00 is an excellent price and fits in well with my new "the stock market has **** the bed" based budget.

Got overnight airmail too.

Good luck finding a dealer to demo it for you; they are exceedingly rare. They are sold at such a low margin compared to other brands that they aren't worth it for a small retailer to:

A) Show that such an affordable unit looks perfectly stellar; no need to consider the "better" units.

B) They sell so well from customer demand, sight unseen, that opening one to demo is a waste of a unit that otherwise could have been sold as new at full price.

Ghosts? On static images? or trails behind things in motion? LCD motion smearing that appears on 26" to 50" normal non-projection LCD flat panels isn't a problem for these sub-1 inch CCD's to the best of my knowledge. 120Hz extra frame interpolation is also on hand if you like it. (I haven't seen it on the Panny but on other sets I think it looks odd.

yes after calling a few places to see if i could get a demo of the unit it became clear that this wasnt going to happen...which sucks...i hate buying anything i cant actually see before i pay the bill.

as regards to the ghosting aka trails behind things in motion part, i have noticed it on a few projectors ive seen...a mitusbishi model comes to mind as does a marantz and an epson...the epson was the least of the 3 offenders but it was rarely there for a split second...but with a price like is on these right now i might just take the risk and buy one and if it turns out i dont like ill just send it back and eat the shipping.

$2499 for good? or just for now? anyone know?

Zoom and focus are powered by your remote.

Read the manual, streetdaddy...zoom and focus are controlled by the remote. If you need any horiz/vert shift, those dials are on top of the PJ

Duvetyne fabric would be the best. What they use in live theater. No light reflections.

hunt, 4 listed by the seller proviewdigital again right now. Just make sure to go through the cashback link.

Very nice, especially for a first theater. Yes, I used dark colors but dark fabric is even better.

ive got a question about this projector...im having trouble figuring out exactly how this would work out...it says in the projectorcentral.com review for this projector that "the zoom lens at maximum telephoto cuts lumens by up to 41%. So if you need to maximize lumen output, use the wider angle end of the zoom lens if possible." now from how i understand it, and i could be WAY off base here, is that in order to get the 2:35 to 1 ratio you actually zoom with the lens correct? so wouldnt this lower your lumen output if you were going back and forth between 16:9 and 2:35? or am i just retarded and it has nothing to do with it? im gonna go with number 2...haha...ive never had a projector and ive been trying to figure out all the lumens, zooms, and that other stuff but have never really fully understood it so thats part of my problem...but is what im thinking about the 2:35 to 1 mode and then transitioning back to 16:9 mode correct?

Bought my projector yesterday. They asked if I wanted the Sanus mount. I was quoted $80, but not a model #. I ended up going with the Cheif universal for $130 instead.

That's very good news. I'm be shooting roughly the same size from the same distance, and brightness was a possible concern of mine.
