Ohh you can do that. I need to do check into how to do this. I have 2.40 setup as a saved setting and I'm in a CIH setup as well, but I didn't know I could adjust bulb brightness mode with that memory setting too.

That's wasn't flying... That was falling with style!

You can't! One needs to switch the Eco setting manually each time.

Ugh. I hear a new buzzing noise as it tries to turn on, to the left of the lens as I face the lens, I think, like a misaligned fan blade whacking against an obstacle, and she won't come to life. This happened about a month ago so I opened her up, made sure the lamp and everything was well seated, put it back together, cleaned the filter, and it seemed fine, but now it seems to be a recurring issue. Anyone?
Is the 8000 the nearest replacement in the current US series? I don't really need 3D but I don't want to compromise anything else and the PTAR100U seems like a lesser series.

P.S. I'm on my 2nd lamp and it still should have hundreds of hours left on it.

P.P.S. Update. Same as before. Dismounted, removed and replaced lamp, and it now works again.

In A/V reproduction accuracy, there is no concept of "accounting for taste". We don't "pick" the level of bass, etc., any more than we pick the ending of a play. High fidelity means an unmodified, neutral, exact copy (or "reproduction") of the original artist's tonal balance, timing, dynamics, etc..

If you follow the lead of current sellers on eBay...around $950 may be about the best you could do. However finding a buyer at this price could be a challenge. You can test the waters here on AVS Forum in the classified forum for projectors.

For some reason my AE4000 will go into standby mode after around 30mins of use. At that point it is no longer responsive and I have to physically pull the power and plug it back in. Has anyone experienced anything like this? No messages come up on the screen it just flicks to standby while watching anything.

looking for some guidance here on this piece.

I might scoop one of these up used as a stop gap until 4K is more affordable. The only thing that worries me is projector central's calculator, which seems to indicate that i will only have 10-11 FL of brightness.

Screen will be a 125-130" scope format. Room is completely dark. Throw distance will be 16-17 ft.

Any thoughts?

I throwing a 125" scope format (via zoom) from 13' in a completely dark room and all white scenes can be very bright. I have 2000 on my lamp and still bright enough.

At no point in your rambling, incoherent post were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having read it.

Why would you buy this projector? You would buy the latest version which is the AE8000 no?

How much is the 4000 anymore? I didn't even think you could buy one. The 8000 is like $1699 right now which is cheaper than I paid for my 4000 4 years ago. The 8000 is brighter and offers 3d. It isn't 4k. I would buy this projector if I were buying new today. Unfortunately the 8000 is a tad larger physically than the 4000 and I Don't believe it would fit in my chief lift.

Prices are all over the map. I had bid 350 for one on ebay with 800 hours left. Somebody else won it for 450 i believe. I've seen them with asking prices up to 1200 which is way overpriced.

Personally, I wouldn't go over 600, and that's assuming there's a fresh lamp involved. Especially when 8000's can be had for the 1500 range.

I got one of these thought I should throw out some tuning numbers using colorfacts.

CIN1
Contrast +14
Brightness -6

Contrast R +11
Contrast G 0
Contrast B -12

Brightness R =5
Brightness G 0
Brightness B +8

I know Projector Central said Cin1 was dead on but mine wasn't. Looks really great after the tuning.

5 years strong love it. My first bulb lasted me 2650 hrs. Brand new bulb installed last Dec. I doing the same thing waiting on 4K to drop. In a dark room 125" at 17 feet should be no problem. Im at 17 feet on a 120"

$42 seems too cheap for an OEM lamp, fixture and filter. Where did you get this? I've heard not so good things about the non-OEM lamps.
