Thank You so much for the link, i just purchased a 8100 from them, should get it Purolator tomorrow. I had never bought anything from them, but so far pleasant transaction. I had one 8100 on Pre-order but looked like only after Xmas i would get it, i didn't want to go the USA route, so the link really helped.

Thanks Again

$2,600 is awfully expensive, especially considering that there is no duty on projectors such as the AE4000, and the recent strength of the loonie.

My understanding of business law, correct me if I'm wrong as it's been a while. Quebec Acoustics made an offer by sending an email (contract), by putting down a $100 deposit we accepted their offer and by them not fulfilling our order, are they not breaking the contact? I know in Quebec they have better consumer protection laws than any other province so QA should be more aware of this than other retailers. I am disappointed to say the least. I would have just pre-ordered from Visions, even though I'm not a huge fan of them if I knew a month later this would happen. I figured I was saving $400 when factoring in the spare bulb and exclusion of 7% PST. Your thoughts?

Honestly, I would walk the 300 miles to the border and back before I gave Panasonic Canada a cent. Typical thug tactics.

Celica makes it sound like QA is making it difficult to get the deposit back. I think this is unfair. I emailed Richard asking for a refund on my deposit and he said ok. He didn't try to keep the deposit or convince me to take the epson or anything, just that it would be done tomorrow (I emailed him late in the day).

Anyway, I just sent him another email saying that I'd take the epson 8500ub if I could get one soon.

My general feeling is that of "**** panasonic" at this point. And with the exchange rate, QAs price for the epson is cheaper than US stores after you factor in paying less tax. And the warranty is a million times better. You only get one bulb but the bulb life is significantly longer, and it is apparently cheaper as well, although I haven't bothered to check.

I guess CIH will wait until I upgrade to a JVC in a few years.

If you call them, you may be able to get a better price, i did on the 8100. Worth a try i guess.

Didn't mean to imply that at all. Heck I didn't even email QA once for a status update, because I wasn't the least bit worried, come to think of it I still haven't emailed him as I'm unsure what to do. I posted that before I realized he was no longer a dealer, thought maybe he misquoted us and was trying to get out of it. After reading Richard's reply in the other thread it seems like he tried to make good, so I'm now left with the decision if I want to support Panasonic Canada anymore. Seems like a some people probably printed out the emails and tried to get a better deal from another retailer and screwed over the rest of us who were content on the price (pure speculation). People talked about MAP in the thread, but at no point did QA advertise the price, you would have to contact them for pricing, so can't see what they did wrong. I'm really looking at the Sony a little more now or maybe I'll just go with the Viewsonic Pro8100 (though I can't seen to find it in Canada anymore) and get an anamorphic lens with the extra cash. Back to the drawing board I guess.

Where did you swing that deal?

I was considering the AE4000, but the longer I wait and the pennies pile up, the closer I get to considering LCoS...

FWIW, I sourced my last proj from QA (Sanyo) and I was pretty happy with the process. Still a bit wary about buying across the border. (warr.)

I did look at a local dealer, but the sales guy thought the AE3000 was new and didn't know JVC made projectors. Oh well.
