Update: I borrowed a smallish HDMI cable and tried it out and it seemed to have worked ! Hardly any flicker. I had bought two seperate 5 meter HDMI cables in the past, both which stated they were 3D capable, and with both I still had the flickering issue.

Have ordered yet another 5 meter 1.4 HDMI cable from somewhere else so crossing fingers this one works ! At least I've narrowed it down to the cable now.

Thought I'd update in case anyone else had this issue and hopefully would see this...worth trying several cables even if they say they are "3D ready", some may not work on the H5630 from my experience.

Now just to figure out a way of getting rid of a load of dust blobs littering the screen !!

Expensive very high quality HDMI cable arrived today. All wired up and guess what... Screen is STILL breaking up and flickering :-(

Back to square one. I think it must be the projector as have now eliminated all other possibilities, so am going to send it to a repair place.

Anybody sent theirs in??> If so how long did it take you to get it back from them??
Update: I got my PJ back from acer about a week ago and everything is working great! They fixed the DMD chip and might've put in a new bulb because my bulb counter was at 0.. Of course they could've just resetted it but why would they do that considering all they did was change the DMD chip.. Anyways process took about 3 weeks and that included the shipping back and forth.. Only complaint I have is its damn hard to find their customer support chat on their website.. Other than that the process was simple..

Finally... made it to the end of reading this looong thread!

However, my problems don't seem to have been answered... and I would appreciate some input!

I have an emachines V700 (same as the acer H5360) which I bought in 2010 since we had kids and could no longer go to the movies... frown.gif
I only got the 3D bug recently, with the advent of "finding" 3D movies "out there". I own a samsung ativ8 laptop with dual graphics (Intel HD and Radeon something...) and a quad core i7 that has VGA and HDMI ports. I've tried the following:

- Output the image to projector (both through VGA or HDMI), the projector is detected as a V700 digital TV and I can set the output at 1280*720 @ 120 Hz
- The projector recognizes this mode and makes the 3D menu available, on which I choose DLP link (then get the message reminding 3D mode is active, blablabla)
- I use stereoscopic player (demo so far, until I know it works) and "feed" it a movie file in half side-by-side format and tell it to use "software page flipping" . At this point the "glasses control" menu becomes available and I tried to use either "none" or "DLP 3D ready encoding"
- I use a pair of glasses from Ebay, branded Sintron, that are meant for DLP 3D projectors (and the H5360 is listed as compatible).
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161161142840?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

They seem to power on fine and the LCD gets darker. Sometimes they flicker noticeably, as if trying to sync, but no 3D... frown.gif Tried 2 pairs and got the same results. I can only see the picture on the wall flickering extremely fast between the left and right images. However, you'd think 120 Hz is too fast for the human eye to perceive... I'm a bit annoyed as I thought it would be as simple as that...

Any thoughts? Could it be the graphics configurations failing here? The projector stays on 3D mode when movie is playing full screen so it is receiving a 120Hz signal, and a quad core i7 with 16GB RAM should cut it, no?

Thanks in advance!

Paulo.

I never had any luck with software page flipping because my hardware couldn't smoothly output L/R frames synchronized with the display.

My H5360 would let me turn on 3D so long as I outputted 720p120. If you force 720p120 via your graphics control panel can you enable 3D (forget about stereoscopic player)? When you do this does the screen wash out? Can you sync your glasses (you don't need 3D content to sync the glasses).

Thanks for replying!
What's the solution then? My laptop has radeon HD 8770 graphics + intel HD4000 so I guess the nvidia solution is out...

Yes, when I output 1280x720 @120 Hz the projector recognizes the signal and turns on 3D and the screens dulls out a bit, colors become less vibrant and blacks become grayish. I did not try to sync the glasses without a movie playing full screen, will give it a go but how will I know they are flickering in sync or just not doing anything?

Regards,
Paulo.

Any thoughts?

Try a free demo of another software player - PowerDVD, TriDef3D, VLC, XMBC. There's a ton of them out there.

Thanks again, but are all those players capable of playing HSBS files in page flipping mode? The only way for me to get 3D is with 120Hz pageflipping... I know tridef3D can and I also tried it briefly with no success... I will play with it a bit more on the weekend.

In the meantime if someone with a success story about using either the Acer H5360 or the V700 wants to share their secret I'm all ears! biggrin.gif

All of them worked for 3D on my H5360.

Yes, but was that using DLP link or Nvidia vision to sync glasses? And what hardware?
Thanks!

ATI 6850 via HDMI & DLPLink glasses. PowerDVD works best for movies, TriDef3D for games.

You can't mix nVidia with ATI / DLPlink

Thanks again! One last thing, do you need to use AMD catalyst and their HD3D thing? Problem with my laptop is that it has switchable graphics (Intel HD4000 and radeon HD8870) and catalyst will not work with it, according to AMD's website...

Yes, you need the latest Catalyst driver when using an ATI card. 3D will not work without it.

I've got a problem with my H5360. On my PS3, I have a lot of red dots "dancing" around on my screen from my projector, only during a game. In the menu they're not there. With my Directv receiver, they're very faint in the dark areas on screen. During the playback of a blu-ray, they're not there. I've got my directv receiver and ps3 running through a Sony receiver, then HDMI to the projector. What could be my problem?

Hi folks, I recently bought a Acer H5370BD and I've found that the white's are far too bright. So bright it gives me a headache! Any suggestions on how I can reduce the level of brightness in the whites without reducing brightness of overall image?

My projector is about 2 metres from a screen. The screen is an IKEA black out blind and is white in colour.

I've read some suggestions of using an ND2 filter. Any thoughts?
My project lens is 6cm in diameter, I can't seem to find a filter that would fit nicely around it, all seem to be wider like this one here http://www.ebay.com/itm/Optical-Glass-TIANYA-77mm-77-mm-Neutral-Density-ND-2-ND2-Lens-Filter-/271323120473?pt=Camera_Filters&hash=item3f2c1e4359

What screen do you have? Did you calibrate with a valid brightness/contrast image? ND2 filters are popular and will work.

You cant use xbmc to view them. You need to use stereoscopic player, powerdvd or tmt5+. Im using an nvidia 3d setup and i set the projector to 120hz @720p, enable nvidia 3d stereoscopic mode in driver, go to projector menu and enable nvidia 3d (it changes color profiles to work better with nvidia 3d glasses). Now i can play 3d. I actually use xbmc, but have my 3d video files named in such a way it opens them with tmt5 as external player with tmt5 set to play every file as 3d in its menu setup options
If you are using dlp link i have no idea how to set that one but its probably pretty close to what im doing

You are in the wrong thread. This is the 5360 thread not the 5360BD although your question is rather generic. Are you running ECO mode?
