Does anyone have any experiences getting a Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080 projector HDMI port repaired (out of warranty)? Any input on price of repair would be appreciated.

I purchased it mid-2007 for about $2800. It has a dead HDMI port. I've been using component video for about 2 years and I am kicking myself for not seeking a warranty repair (thought it was the buried cable, finally diagnosed that is is not the cable.)

I'm finally buying a real surround sound received but having trouble finding new ones with sufficient number for all component video I/O ports.

One local repair shop estimated via phone that it will be a $800-$1200 repair depending on whether is input or main board issue. I'm considering sticking with all component if I find proper receiver, but will be missing the HDMI benefits.

thanks!

Consider selling it on Ebay and buying something newer.

Thanks guys. Interesting idea I had not considered, though I hesitate from wanting to start the projector search again since overall it works fine other than HDMI. Any guesses what it might fetch on ebay without HDMI capability? Any suggestions for comparable performing projector with same throw/distance? (Screen is 103").

Still curious if anyone out here has bit the bullet to have one repaired...
