Do not forget: The Qumi is rated on 40db, so there is no possibility to enjoy it, if this rating is made on the same Situation as the LG Products.

The noise level of this unit won't be the quoted 44db. Those list specs are way off and Vivitek is still modifying the prototype. Direct quote straight from Vivitek:

"A noise level of 44 dB is not accurate. We are still working on making the projector as quiet as possible. We did have Qumis running at CES and other shows recently, and there was no interference from the fan with the audio."

They're also looking into the possibility of smaller throw ratio (I suggested LG type 1.35 instead of the announced 1.55) and Nvidia 3D vision certification. Great chaps!

Will 3D be 60hz per eye?

Late March early April. Im still waiting here for any kind of perorder.

I think im going to look for a Nettop to power this Projector. Time to sell off my old 2.8ghz Pentium 4 , The upgrades to go HDMI , DX10 , Bluray , are too much to get the most out of this HD 3d projector. Plus The Nettops have Nvidia Ion GFXs so I hope they do get an Nvida 3d Vison Badge as well as there already Texas Instruments 3d Badge.

I'll be able to fit both in a cheap 20$ HomeDepot aluminum briefcase.

I thought the release date was May. Has it been bumped up? Does anyone know the release date for the LG one as well?

I want to see more pics of the REMOTE. Im planning to do an upside down celiing mount , so i'll be using the remote alot. Anyone see a remote I/R port upfront. Maybee its bluetooth / RF, (good for office duties.) It Could be like a MacTV remote, emulating the units main power / guide button.

I hope I can turn off the Blue power button's glow. Id hate to be forced to put tape over the touch-sensitive PS3 style button.

I was initally looking at Acer K11. My current room setting allows me to control amount of light. Most of time it would be used for movie and video games. Will it be possible to mount this projector on ceiling ? Also closest I can place projector from screen is 14'. Will this is be issue with regards to this projector ? Ideally I would prefer to mount it on a closet which is like 20' away from the screen.

Is this supposed to be the best LED projector coming out in the near future within a reasonable price range? My budget is about $1000, absolute max maybe $1500, but $500 for a projector sounds really good to me.

Douglas said it should work if the room's darkened as much as possible. What I'm thinking is that I could purchase something like the Qumi and use it until something better comes along, which may not be that far off.

I also saw a bit about the Casios that are much brighter and use lasers, but it seemed those units weren't rated that well overall.

Again, I plan to use this quite a lot since it will be a computer monitor substitute. That's why I'd like to avoid a new projector with a bulb that would have to be replaced.

One last thing, Douglas said since it's LED it should be more equivalent to 500-600 lumens or something, although I forget exactly what he said. I'm planning to demo a unit before purchasing to see what it's like.

Any thoughts?

I currently have the Aaxa M2 (100 LMS Native XGA Res.) and I am projecting an 85" Diag. image that is plenty bright enough - so 300 Lumens sound like more then enough for a 90" + screen! And the price is excellent @ $500 since it seems the LG's 1280x800 offering will be in the neighborhood of $800 (for that amount I will spend $200 more and get a entry level 1080P bulb projector)!

I was going to ask about whiteboard but I found an informative thread so nm.

Will the Qumi projector do ok in a semiblackout room?

I do try to avoid total blackout in a pj room as then the image on the screen creates a color push for that image i.e. a yellow canary will produce yellow color that is then reflected from the rooms walls creating a yellow push for that image.

DIY beats store purchased.

Check this out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmphhVRbfpw
as you can see in the video this ACER product is LARGER and BRIGHTER and it happens to use the same brand new nHD from TI. I think I'm going to skip the Qumi...

It al depends on the screen size, if you go down to run of the mill LCD screen sizes and that Acer offer anything close to that 500 lumens, it should be doable.

The only loud one is that Young Optics/Optoma (both part of Coretronics) unit, it is so flat and compact that they can on use tiny fans, no natural convection either, may proof to be unreliable because of overheating.

What was that unidentified unit right befor he swirled to the Acer?

Any other reports on that Acer, and price targets? Who designs/produces this unit, as Acer is basically a marketing/sales house for ODM products, it sources from external and formally internal manufacturers?

Hopefully not those should not get any smaller than the current .65/.67 for 1080P/WXGA, otherwise actual resolution will suffer to much from the reduced mirrorsize and fillrate.

Hello, long time reader first time poster at least here anyways. for the last few months ive been reading researching on these led projectors. started out with the "EYECLOPS" which was a gift for my little boy. After that i started researching on how advanced theyve gotten on led projectors so i can get one for myself. so i looked at the AAXA models LG HS201 - LG HX300. I made up my mind i was going for the higher lumen and best picture and at that moment i was set on the LG HX300 but $700 - $800 kind of steep. some how i heard of the Qumi and was like perfect, downside had to wait for the release in may. Anyone know when we can start preordering this unit. ive got the money but the more i wait the more and more i spend off of the money i got put away.
The Acer Caught my attention to but to wait more months for that i dont think i can.
