Good afternoon again everyone. Through a series of events (fortunate or unfortunate), we acquired a NEC MultiSync MT830+ LCD Projector (Circa Late 1999) for $25. I have tried it with standard def composite cables and it actually doesn't look nearly as bad as I thought standard def would look with such a large screen size, but I'd still like to plug up the ol' original Xbox and Wii in all their progressive scan glory with component cables. Only problem is, those enterprising folks at NEC didn't see the need for putting component plugs on that machine, so I'm gonna need an adapter. From what I understand, there are two varieties of Component to VGA adapters: The $5 Cheapo ones, and the $30-40+ expensive ones (for displays that don't accept "Sync on Green"). I talked to a very slow person with NEC support via their online chat thing, but I really want to triple check (as the person said that this projector did not support Sync on Green) that it doesn't. I added up the costs involved with moving the projector to the center of our living room to project onto a wall up high between the giant speakers (Long Coaxial Cable for the Standard Def Television box, long sound cable to the sound machine, component to VGA adapters, component switches, audio switches, etc.), and discovered it would cost as little as $59 dollars - The Adapter being the killer. We figured it wasn't worth it to dump that much into a 800X600 LCD projector from 1999, when you can get a decent HD CRT Rear Projection set (one that would require less costly extension sound/coax cables, switches, etc.) for just a little more than that. What I want to know is this: What does the community think?

Thanks.

Sorry to bump this, but I've got an update for this. I've noticed some distortion on the left and right sides (the 98% in the center is still fine). Could it be a misaligned mirror?

Update - if you go into the projector's menu and press the buttons that flip or mirror the image, those lines move further over, then revert back when you change it back to normal which tells me that it's not a bad panel or a mirror.

Any new ideas?

Thanks.
