Anyone have information on cost of replacement bulbs, all I could find was off Pcentral specs

The price for a GT720 replacement seems to be around $200 on the net, would the 750 be about the same?

yea, I asume it probably takes the same bulb, but should be around the same price.

One thing I'm interested in is 2D to 3D conversion. Is iZ3D the best for this?

And would I want to get DLP Link, RF glasses, or NVidia's 3D Vision?

I should probably check the iZ3D forums, but falafala's review seemed to say that DLP Link was better. Is this the consensus?

Also, I'm getting a PS3 with Move controllers so I can play The Fight for exercise. I think the kind of 3D glasses you need is just due to whatever you're using with the TV or projector, and the PS3 doesn't need a specific type right?

I'm getting rf, did you pick a screen yet? Falafala also said 3d sucks on 720p projectors. Dlp link has plenty of problems. Losing sync, not working if room is too bright plus you already get rf emitter

I have a screen I bought from an ebay seller. I also have a Doable board.

So if it comes with an RF emitter in the box then that would be better?

What would be the advantage to buying NVision, or is it just NVidia's brand name that's more expensive?

By the way, there's a new review at the Amazon page. Very positive and he suggests Optoma's DLP Link glasses:

"Got mine on my son's birthday. I hook up with PS3, 1.4a compliance hdmi cable, Mustang 120" screen, sony sounds system, two optoma z101 3D DLP link glasses, play 3D games and watch 3D movie. I can not believe in front of my eyes. I am watching and playing 3D in my living room. None of the projector out there without you need to pay and hook up 3D converter can do that. I had compare it with Optoma HD180 as well. I love this 3D projector. I am excited to have this machine in my living room. I am dying to show this to my friends and wife. Another best part is it comes with the RF emitter just in case you want to hook up with RF active shutter glasses. In my opinion, the optoma Z101 is on sale and will do the job nicely both to my two boys 10 and 13 years old and of course myself. You will not be disappointed."

Was he talking about for videogames or movies?

I wonder how much of a difference there really is between 3d on the gt750 (720p) vs the HD33 (1080P).

It appears NVidia has this thing called 3DTV Play. Going by this it looks like you can watch video in 3D and play games using whatever glasses work with your display.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-compare.html

Maybe I will just get the rf glasses from 3DTVCorp if those are the cheapest and work well.

glasses from 3dtv corp won't work with the emitter this comes with, they have their own rf emitter. you would probably need to pick up a vesa cable to connect it. i couldn't tell you too much about gaming stuff as i don't play games. i understand you don't need anything but tmt5 or powerdvd ifyou just watching movies with nvidia card. if you want to play games with nvidia then you would get 3dtv play since you can use either dlp link glasses, rf glasses or you could go the IR route with 3dtv corps universal emitter. heck you could get a samsung/mitsubishi emitter and use those ir glasses too.

but i think rf is best as nothing will interfere with them. i'm not going to take the chance that dlp link is going to lose sync if the light is too bright in the room.

Amber Ale: he was talking about movies. i wonder the same thing about the difference.

Ok, so do you know what kind of glasses would be best for the emitter this comes with then?

As far as the screen material goes I bought it from luv2kruz at ebay. I did a lot of research and that store seemed to have the best price and the biggest, quality material, at least at the time. It was awhile ago.

I received mine from Amazon today. I can confirm that the MonsterVision RF glasses that look identical to the optoma RF glass do work with this projector.

I had never encountered the rainbow effect before now and we tried to watch Tron in 3d and both my wife and I were overcome with the rainbows. Tron might be effective at showing rainbows due to the white lights and a dark background and the rapid movement.

I also tested a few PS3 3D demos and those were working great.

Due to the rainbows I am going to have to return it. I think we are going to step up to the HD3300, of which I have seen few complaints about rainbows.

maybe it was the monster glasses? maybe they are slightly different, doubt it.

before you return, could oyu check out some other 3d movies and tell us how the 3d is?

okay, just heard back from Michael at 3dtv corp. 2 people tested his rf emitter and apparently even though it has a vesa port, it will not work without using the nvidia setup which is how he sells it. So looks like that option is out. as far as I know you can't use nvidia vision with this projector so you couldn't get the glasses to work with it even if you wanted to. maybe someone knows different witht that.

I could see the rainbow effect without the glasses on. It was also present in the trailers.

You can't use NVidia 3DVision with this projector? Do you know why?

About the rainbows is it possible it's a faulty unit? In the 2 reviews on Amazon so far rainbows weren't mentioned. Also, this unit is basically a GT720 with additional 3D hardware right? If that's the case what has people's experience been like with the GT720?

Tron definitely had 3d. The 3d did not "pop out" but there was a lot of depth in both the Tron footage and the PS3 demo. It was more like looking through a window. It would probably help if I had a movie in my possession that I knew had some pop out.

I'm also wondering if the rainbow effect in Tron was more specific to that movie or not. The bright white light with a dark background easily triggered the effect when combined with panning or fast movement. I did not see any rainbows while playing Wipeout.

Those reviews heavily referenced games on the PS3. I did not see the effect while gaming, just in the previews and movie on the Tron 3d BR.

I also believe it is harder to detect rainbows in games than movies due to the type of movement.

i don't know if you can, i would assume not since its a 1.4 projector and you would use 3dtv play.

michael from 3dtv corp said the rf he sells might work if you buy the 10 dollar vesa cable, but a little too iffy for me. optoma rf glasses are only like 80 bucks from some places if they ever come into stock.

BTW, if you want 3d glasses now, pretty much your only choice is dlp link or to get an IR kit from 3dtv corp, although ir is known to mess with remotes and stuff so not really worth it. no places seem to have the RF glasses yet unless you want to pay through the nose for the monster ones. I believe some people had the optoma ones drop shipped from somewhere but I'm betting they didn't pay the good prices. this place might be able to get them sometime soon as it appears they will order them for you. still says 15 days or so to get them though.

Well since I started this thread I thought I would revisit it. I had fully planned to get this PJ as my 3d unit and use my 8350 as my 2d unit since I did not think 1080p 3d units were going to be cost effective. If I knew two months ago what I know now I would never have purchased the 8350 and simply ordered a HD3300. Now it seems I need to just ebay my 8350 and get a 3300 and be done unless somehow 1080 3d is not really that much better than 720 3d. Initial reports say no but that was only one user. Still, 1080 vs 720! Any comments would be appreciated. I believe I will wait since my DLP TV does good 3d, just not 120" worth.

I've had this projector (750e) for 2 days now. I can't compare it to anything since its my first projector, but its great so far. The 2D picture is wonderful, and 3D is great too. I wasn't expecting much from 3D movies, but they're pretty amazing so far. I just watched Resident Evil Afterlife, things do pop off the screen. The 3d was great. On the down side there is some rainbow effect in low light scenes. Its not a deal breaker for me and if i wasn't aware of what the rbe was, i probably wouldn't have even realized it. The only reason i saw it is because the screen is so big that i have no choice but to dart my eyes across it to see the whole image once in a while.
