Hello.
Did ACER change the design of the K330?
It seems that you have attached a wrong photo..

That was the prototype that was shown early on when it was just announced.

Probably. Seems strange to write "zoom lens" in the projector overview though.

It is an odd and misleading description, but if you read page 1, 4th bullet from bottom, they are talking about "digital zoom and pan". I cannot find any other reference to it in the manual.

Nice, a uk site already has the Acer in it's website, probably not in stock but will check tmr.

But oddly enough, it's actually priced cheaper than the Qumi. Qumi is selling at £510 while the Acer K330 is priced at £498?! Both vat inclusive.
Raine0's Avatar Raine0 12:48 PM 08-29-2011
Just wondering if I press buy at the price of £498, even tho it's not in stock yet, will they honor that price when it comes in stock?

Good price and worth a try?

Macgo ? finally found out the size of the DLP chip for these projectors, well, at least the Acer K-330 in which is the leading candidate projector to buy.
The DLP chip size from their user manual is .045 " .
eat meat's Avatar eat meat 03:34 PM 08-29-2011
Its a .4 (not a .04) chip-the same pico in the qumi -all these 720p pocket pjs are using it.

From the Acer K330 Brochure.

DynamicBlack technology dramatically improves image
contrast by using dynamic lamp power adjustment to
analyze content frame by frame. Acer projectors featuring
this technology dynamically adjust dark scenes to optimal
black levels while maintaining the original brightness of
bright scenes, resulting in the most vivid image quality
and a high contrast ratio of up to 4000:1

If it can auto dim the leds I wonder why the contrast ratio isn't higher like in the more expensive led projectors.

Hi everyone, I am looking to join the ranks of projector owners and based on what I have read on these forums and elsewhere it seems LED projectors are the way to go.

After researching the models available, I decided I should probably wait for the Acer K330 to come out in the US. However I am at a loss for when. From what I have read on here, noone has a release date for the K330 in the US, but I figured I would check to see if anyone had found something recently.

don't want to have to wait for x-mas to buy this thing

Yes, it is suppose to be released before the end of month(it was originally announced for August though). No exact date has been given. It was suppose to be released before the Optoma but a few people have already received their Optoma's. So, it could be delayed further but I bet it will show up soon since the Optoma's are starting to trickle out.

ProjectorPoint in the UK claims they're getting stock around the 9th.

Does anyone know anything about the wireless dongle thing? Maybe tried it on a different model? I like the idea if it actually works.

This hopefully will be done sometime before xmas (this year). It's gonna be and gonna feel like a long long wait still.

Me too.
If another company show up with led 1080p before i get the PJ 720p I'll wait for that. Long wait still.......

Yeah but u see sir... the Qumi was officially given a April/May release date at the start of the year, that got delayed until June/July? With all the problems it came with and with the 500 lumens announced for a Sept/Oct release date, I decided to wait the extra couple of months til now.

Understand?

I wouldnt hold my breath for 1080p under 3000$.

there looks to be a few platforms and they all use the new pico ti chip.
the 500 lumen-4 brands
the qumi
the ml300
the asus/dell/ViewSonic PLED-W200- 200 lumen

Do you have a screen or a screen in mind? Of you don't I would consider a HP screen with one of these clones
Raine0's Avatar Raine0 12:20 PM 09-06-2011
Blee, I don't have any screen in mind yet. I intend to get the projector and see how it performs first. I think my projected image would be around 106 inch diagonal. And since my viewing would mostly in the total darkness, I think I might be ok with a normal screen without much gain. You think?

I think if you get a normal gain, maybe 92in at the most I would get. I just use a Foot Lambert guide. It is supposed to be 12-16 fL for movie watching. I like at least 16fL for movies and 20fL for TV. But as low as 10fL is acceptable for movies to me. With a 1.1 gain on a 92in, you should get 16-17fL. 100in you can get 13-14, and with a 106in you can get between 11-12. With my HP screen I get at least 20fL on a 120in screen, looks brighter tho. Just an estimate with what I'm getting from my ML500. Also, a 92in HP screen will get about 36fL at max gain to help with viewing during the day
Raine0's Avatar Raine0 01:35 PM 09-06-2011
Thx for advice Blee. Will get the projector and test it on a wall. Was hoping these clones will do about 110 inch in the dark without much help tho.

Actually there's a guy in the Qumi thread that made a 96 inch diy screen and he thought it was great. Interestingly enuf, he said he many should've went bigger.
Raine0's Avatar Raine0 01:40 PM 09-06-2011
And the Acer review that was on the ZOL.com said that it did 100 inches easily. I took it that he meant focus and brightness wise.

Very Funny, kkkkkkk
But i like the Runco 3Dimension D-73d $49.000
If I win the power ball, around 150 millions probably I'll get one of that.

But in my reality i need to get one under $ 1.200
probably it will be LG HX350T or Optoma ML500.

Not sure why you'd want to feed it 1080p, unless you figure its down-scaler is better than whatever it's hooked up.

Also what price are we expecting on it? Based on quick search The Nec and ViewSonic are more than 100 bucks than the Optoma. Hopefully the Acer is on par with Optoma.
