Update:

I just got around to testing the box for a full feature length movie. We watched The Last Castle this past weekend. At the end of the 2 hours+, temperature was only at 126 F. The box worked perfectly as far as sound, only the slightest hum could be heard from directly beneath it, and nothing could be heard from 6 feet away (measure on the diagonal.

I thought you might like to hear the end of the story. If anything is unclear, please ask.

Thanks,
Jay

Jay, do you have a filter on your lens ?

I'm happy you finally got to test your box for a whole movie :) it must be nice to have calmed down the fury of these fans !!!

I just got a FL-D filter for my LP350.... and man, that thing is awsome.

If you just put the lens and don't touch anything else, you might get a little disapointed tho.

I taped a 58mm Hoya FL-D double coated to the lense and i was a little disapointed to see the image get dim, and pinkish whites....
I just poped the AVIA DVD in the player, and reajusted the Colors, brightness, contrast and tint.... and Damn.... this is nice.
I don't know why but the COLOR setting on the PJ is very low, maybe around the first quarter, but that is where i get the best setting on the COLOR DECODER CHECK pattern and the BLUE BARS pattern.

I watched the Fifth Element again this week end.... skin colors were very nice, LeeLoo doesn't have greenish root on her hairs anymore.
And for the last scene, where the stones lighten up... Man.... these colors... i was almost drooling.
Black are also a little darker fo course... and i didn't drop too too much whites.

Pierre.

Pierre, yes I do. I have the 62mm Teffin FLD filter. I used black electrical tape to affix it to the zoom lens.

Agreed, you have to re-calibrate when you add the FLD. it does drop the lumens, but we have some to spare :) Do you also use a gray screen? When I added a gray screen (well painted one anyway) the rainbows went bye bye, and actual pixels are only visible from 2 feet. The LP3x0 series definitely has a greenish cast that requires color correction. The FLD worked fine for me and others. Have you decided to make a hush box yet?

Jay
