Here is ProjectorPeople's reply when I inquired about Delayed Epson 3010/E, and if they're shipping revised hardware:

Epson has shipped a handful of the 3010’s. I have not heard anything yet about the E (wireless version). We are being told right now that the Projectors are shipping slowly and should be vamped up to meet all orders in the next couple of weeks. If you place an order it will go to Epson who will ship first orders in, first orders out manner.

So it looks like sprocket has the revised one (if that even existed for the 3010). I have a feeling Epson may be revising the E version and that's what the reviewing sites are usinG?

Ill make the video available again, and try to get something up tonight with some pictures of the screen in action. I have a 100" Da-Lite HCCV screen at 1.1 gain that I'll be testing with. Once again, this is my opinion of the projector in my own home. This is not a professional review, I also don't sell any equipment, this will be just my honest opinion.

I'm looking forward to your opinions on the 3010 and how 3D looks on the HCCV screen. I've got the same screen and was considering the 3010 or 5010 but wondered if it would be bright enough in 3D.

Excellet video !

looks like 3010 doesnt have auto-lense-cover

please do comment on the following

1) how is cross talk in 3D (you need to look at high contrast scenes like say Tron or Lends of guardians)

2) Do the IR glasess lose sync easily

3) how does the 2D and 3D compare to HD33(00)

I read in the other Epson thread that the 3D mode had a much lower frame rate (24 fps was it?) than normal.

What did you think of Gears 3 at this frame rate? Do you feel like you are getting a lesser experience in 3D because of it?

Ha..I told you y'all...next gen models with same specs should be better. And I bet the 3010 is at least equal or better than 8700 too.

The stampede scene in Lion King 3D works great as well since the cliffs drift into a bright blue sky. Very easy to notice I found.

are you saying its very easy to notice cross-talk ?

note that HD33(00) owners claim that there is absolutely no cross tallk on DLP

curious how LCD is

I'm curious also, I thought I read the 480hz panels could help eliminate crosstalk for 3D but maybe I got confused.

Difficult to choose between Optoma HD3300 and Epson 3010, hesitant to buy both, knowing I will only like one of them!

Google it and it says cross-talk is like ghosting? Like those Analogy TV signal? Not cool. I guess it only happen when in 3D.

Have HD33 and see no crosstalk in that Lion King scene. But, still following this thread to see what Epson may offer over Optoma.

Hey the 3010 says 40,000:1 contrast ratio on the epson website and it says 200,000:1 for the 8700ub. I don't get why it's such a huge difference, yet the 3010 has more lumens.

The 3010 is analogous to the 8350 + 3D and the 5010 is analogous to the 8700ub + 3D.

Reviews will be out soon from folks (like Art from projector reviews.com) who can give you a better idea how black levels stack up against the 3100, 8700, and 5010, etc. The reason the lumens are higher on the 3010 is for 3D. 3D needs lots of lumens as you lose roughly 75% of your brightness when you use the glasses and watch 3D.

What are your room conditions? Do you have dark walls and a dark ceiling?

Personally I would hold off buying anything awhile longer until reviews are out. Should be another week or two weeks at the most.

Neither is a valid comparison...too much difference on too many parameters.

It has A LOT more lumens, and as in any PJ with such, Contrast levels invariably drop. get a High Contrast Gray screen and you can achieve great results.

FTR, the Mechanical Keystoning is simply a Lens tilt affair that repositions the angle of the lens.

But...as in a Lens Shift situation, the more severly used, the more attenuation of light results.

THAT might be moot though due to the 3010s lumen output.

Much more analogous than 3010 as better than an 8700ub...that's all I'm saying. Yes, there are some other improvements, but it sounds like the 3010 is an improved 8350, not an improved 8700ub. I don't know why people are saying that.

Thanks - that does soften the blow of not having lens shift a bit Still seems odd they'd do horizontal, but oh well, still works for me

Dark ceiling, white walls actually Yeah I think I will wait for some indepth reviews on the units. I think 3d is nifty, but I definitely wouldn't want to pay $1000 over a 8700ub for the 5010 just for 3d.

I have a white ceiling and just don't think I will see the true value of the darker blacks of the 5010 vs the 3010. I am also keeping my eyes open on the new Mitsubishi 7800 and the BenQ 7800 which may be my ideal projector. I may also go with Optoma 3300 too..

Can't wait to see how the 3010 compares.

Another option for you (does not have 3D) is the BenQ W6000. I compared it to the Epson 8700 and preferred it. Solid blacks, solid lumens, DLP pop, etc. Seeing it for sale now for under $1500 which is a great deal.

Those numbers are all about how the auto-iris is implemented. You put a dark scene on the 8700 and the iris is going to close down pretty far to cut out the remaining light. Native contrast on the 8700 is less than 10,000:1 and I would assume about the same for the 3010, but would hope that it would be a bit better than the 8700 being a newer geration fo panels.

I am interested in the 3010 or HD3300 for cheap 3D thrills as well. Probably will go with 3010 for better blacks and lack of RBE; however HD3300 will be sharper and ghost-free due to DLP.

The 3010 has a lower contrast than the 8350 according to specs on the Epson website. It will not be better than the 8700ub as far as contrast.

Out of all these new comparable projectors with 3D that you mentioned, is the Epsons the only LCD? I would really prefer LCD for night sim racing games where i need more shadow detail than bright pop (plus wife extremely rainbow sensative.) Is there going to be an LCD competitor to the EPSON 3010e coming out? Thanks
