Dear falafala, xhonzi, and other 3010 users, please post your comments that how was your experience of watching HUGO and PUSS IN BOOTS 3D BDs on your 3010. On what screen size your watched, how much was ghosting or crosstalk, etc. Thank you.

Fry's special this week for the subject combo.
A tad under 1500.

Best price I have seen, bought Saturday.

Just projecting an a white blank wall for now and tested with "Under the Sea, "Avatar", and "Legends of Flight".
Like the performance.

I own ~ $1500 worth of calibration gear and an Iscan Duo and when the screen gets mounted I will do a complete calibration and report here.
But for now I will need to find an installer to mount the screen for me.

Anyone know of a reliable BBB rated installer in Sand Diego ?
I can not do this myself at age 84 and lacking the strength to mount a 25 lb screen in a somewhat difficult position in a room with a beam ceiling.

Not really light controlled, but with vertical blinds on the patio door (20 feet) and venetian blinds and fabric panes on the 4 windows facing west it can be made reasonably dark in the day and of course quite dark at night.

The room is large and a combination kitchen and family room.
My current display is the LG 55LH90, LED back lit LCD with full local dimming calibrated to what I consider impeccable PQ.

Or is it actually affecting how much the brightness is boosted by the PJ in 3D mode?

Does that mean that 3D brightness=High = More crosstalk, is practically useless setting due to high crosstalk considering using Epson or other glasses except Monsters. Then what is the use of this "high" brightness 3D setting? Epson does not know that or what?

As far as I understand it, it's offering you the ability to control the tradeoff. Since I don't need the extra brightness, I'll happily trade it in for less ghosting. If ghosting doesn't bother you, but you want the extra brightness, you can go that route as well. I'm guessing Epson understands that very well.

If I'm guessing correctly, the 3D brightness option won't affect the Monster glasses or any glasses using an external emitter because I think this option only affects the IR signal being sent to the epson glasses. The Monster emitter basically has the same trade off, but apparently gives you greater control of the tuning.

Continuing this line of speculation, I'd assume that the major difference between Monster and Epson/PS3 glasses isn't the glasses per se, but the ability to more precisely tune the timing for the emitter.

Yes, but they should have given a more finer slider control (like other settings) to give full control over this tread-off

Can anyone tell me if an Epson 8350 ceiling mount will work with the 3010 ? Are the screw holes for the mount underneath the 3010 in the same place as the 8350 ? Thanks

I have the 3010 coming Friday and i think not having lens shift will be a problem for me. I have my current projector (8350) is mounted from my ceiling and it pretty much points directly towards the top of my 100" fixed frame screen. My ceiling is real low about 7 ft. Do you think i will have to lower the projector so it will shoot straight at the screen. If i have to aim my projector down then i will be messing up the picture and i will have to use the keystone correction which i do not want to use... Also if i have to lower the projector to much it will be in the way. I cannot shelf mount because there is no where else to put it. Thanks

Here is pretty much where to lens height is...

The 3010 should be mounted so that the lense is centered and in line with the top of the screen when ceiling mounted. If your 8350 is already mounted in this location, replacing it with the 3010 should be a snap. I just replaced my HC 400 with a 3010 last week. Mounting holes line up and I only had to make minor adjustment to get the image to line up with the screen. I say put it up and see how it looks.

I just got my 3010 today and it looks great. However I cannot get 3d to work. I have an HTPC with an ATI 5700 card in it going directly to the 3010 via HDMI. I am using powerdvd 11 for the player. To test I downloaded some 3d MTV files. But for the life of me I can't get 3d to display properly. When I toggle the 3d button on the remote I get the "the current input image sittings do not display in 3d" any ideas that to try next?

Thx

Edit* My Monoprice HDMI splitter is the problem. Monoprice says it wont pass 3D from a video card (ATI 5700) even tho the splitter is 3D capable.

I know it has to be situated right...my hd33 fits perfect right now, so I am hoping if I get a 3010 it would just slide right in there with no extensions or anything needed

I can confirm it works with 3010.

When I first connected mine, I went into the setup menu on the PS3 and let it auto-detect the appropriate settings for the resolution. If you have not done this, do this first.

Are you connected directly to the projector, or are you going through a receiver or switch between the PS3 and the projector? Try connecting directly to the projector and see if that solves the problem.

Placing the projector anywhere but the recomended location will skew the image. I currently have mine about 6 inches to the right of center and the left side of the image is about 2 inches taller than the right. It is not very noticeable unless I have my computer desktop pulled up because the icons across the bottom are halfway onto the border. If you place the projector below the recomended height, it will have to point up which will cause the bottom to be narrower than the top. The term for this effect is called keystone because the image takes the shape of a keystone in the center of an arch. If you have decent masking you may not notice it too bad, it just depends on how picky you are about it. You can also use Keystone correction to adjust the image back to normal dimensions.

Connecting to Pioneer VSX 920 3D ready receiver

Connecting to Epson powerlite 3010

When I turn on 3D on my PowerDVD for a 2D movie, PowerDVD is detecting the display.

Same time Projector is not getting any 3D signal.

When playing 3D movie, still powerDVD not detecting the display type.

I am not familiar with ATI but i am also using 3010 with my HTPC using nVidia 520 GT. In nVidia control panel there is 3D settings which one has to activate before using 3D. See your ATI settings for your video card there must be some 3D settings, etc. just play with those settings and see if your PowerDVD detects and post your results. Also ensure that from your PC to Pioneer and Pioneer to Epson you are using HDMI 1.4 cable.

thanks "Mr Jackson", gives me better insight.

The reason I ask about this (proper centering of projector) is because the rear-wall of my theater room has a heater/air-conditioner vent positioned at center, mounted on the ceiling surface, approx 6.0in out (see image below).

My plan, or hope, is to mount the projector using a (Peerles) wall-mount assembly, such that the projector will be maybe 1.0 or 2.0 feet below vent:
http://www.amazon.com/14-Projector-W...&sr=8-11-spell

I'm concerned the vent could be intrusive on the projector (especially if heat is flowing out onto projector), I'm wanting to position the projector somehow away from the vent. Not sure how best to position the projector in this situation?
