So I am still trying to get everything situated in my theater, I set up my screen, but may decide to move it around. For a mount I ordered the following http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i00_details
VideoSecu Universal LCD/DLP Projector Vaulted Ceiling Mount Bracket Black with 25.6" extension pole PJ2B 1C9
My screen is a Visual Apex 120" 1.1 gain. Room dimensions 12w x 8h x 16deep. If I am using and understanding the calculator correctly, I have 3 inches offset; does that mean that the projector can only be 3" above the screen, and will I have any use for the pole that accompanies my mount? Is there any recommended method for running hdmi and power cables down the wall, and what about surge protectors or power extension cords? What is the closest the lens should be to the screen it says 13', 12.5 won't fill the screen.
Does anyone have any special calibration settings? I have been using dark cinema. I noticed that the background on my PS3 on the right side of the screen shows a red tint on black. Is this a hardware thing, bulb, or calibration?
I somehow accidently got a thumbprint on the lens, which I cleaned with microfiber and isopropyl alcohol in a circular motion; is there a better safer, preferred method for cleaning the lens?
Some of the pros of this unit: 1080p + 3D + 1 pair of glasses. The dynamic iris, the ability to do RGB full, 24p processing. Price.
Cons: Runs loud, very sluggish hdmi and picture mode switching. Seems less than flexible in placement. Very poor directions. Few owners, and reviews to really optimize the abilities of the projector.
I watched a couple of minutes of Underworld, 300, Game of Thrones and have played God of War Origins Ghost of Sparta in 3D. The picture looks fantastic, black levels seem pretty good and given the sheer size, a compromise I'm willing to make. If the picture seems blurry you need to make sure the distance is correct and twist the lens to zoom.
