Wonderful. I am extremely interested in this projector. It seems so under the radar. Surprising there isn't more buzz considering the specs...

I have read about this pj and I think its not dual dvi I see from the back picks it does have a d dvi plug I am hoping the extra pins are being used. Post 3d gaming results, more important than the 5 blurays everyone buys 2k pj on this forum for. Awesome news maybe I can finally get a gaming pj. Please let us know what gpu your using and driver verisons.

I have a dual link cable on route...so I will test that out, though from reading some german and french forums it doesn't look promising.

First impressions:

Lens Shift: This is very limited amount of lens shift compared to my Epson 8500UB, but it is enough to be useful. You can move the projector anywhere from the very bottom of the screen to several feet below it depending on your throw distance. The same goes for the top. There is also a decent amount of horz. shift for those that need that.

In my room this enough that I could put the unit on a low coffee table or a high shelf if I didn't want to ceiling mount it.

HDMI handshaking: The projector auto detected a 3d blueray from my PS3 without incident. However any time the resolution or input format changes..the projector takes a little longer to sync back up then I would like.

3D Picture: I didn't spend much time with the 2d so I'll offer my 3d impressions. The projector appeared bright in 3d, though you couldn't change the image mode (standard, cinema, etc) in 3d. Not quite as bright as the H5360 but pretty close.

I currently have a 92" BD II screen, but I still think I want to move to a slightly bigger higher gain screen to get the most out of 3d.

More thoughts tonight.

Hi !
Since the H9500BD is the only sub-X0,000$ 3D FullHD projector with a "dual link DVI" connector, we'd REALLY like to know if that projector CAN handle 1080p at 120hz.

3D 1080p at 60hz per eye would be great news for gamers (other consumer-class FullHD 3D projectors only come with an HDMI 1.4 connector which limit input to 1080p at 24hz, so that's only a "not enough" 24fps for 3D games at 1920x1080).

Now, this projector has the required connector for this, but we still don't know if its inside electronic and firmware can handle this resolution and refresh rate together (still no 3D Vision support, but that could be possible later)

So that would be great if you could make this test (please!) :
- connect the projector to a computer with NVidia graphics, using a DUAL LINK (required for 1080p at 120hz) DVI cable (like the Belkin F2E4141B10DD or other brand), I repeat : a DUAL LINK DVI cable

- use Nvidia Control Panel to create and test a "1920x1080 at 120hz" custom resolution, and let us know if it's working (or just going black)

Thank you !

Edit : just saw your "simultaneous" post and it seems that you're quite aware of this possible feature, sorry i'm french, and on french forums we still don't know this for sure... i'll report your findings

Is Acer not considered a serious "videophile" projector or something? Seems like nobody ever talks about them on here.

I don't know how this thing stacks up against others in its price range, but I've been interested in a DLP with lens shift...I'm interested to hear more about the PQ on this little guy.

This looks very interesting. Lens Shift, DLP, 3D & priced similar to HD3300. Whats not to like ?

Anyone wants to compare this with HD33/3300 ?

BTW, I can't even find this projector in Acer's website. How can we expect others to take this seriously when Acer themselfs don't even put it on their website ?

Anyone has access to manuals / throw calculations ? ProjectorCentral doesn't have any of this info.

For the manuals: http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers, go to projectors, H series, and H9500BD

And not in English.

Thx.

Looks like the lens shift is rather minimal.
- Image can be shifted from 5% offset to 30% vertical offset. But the image will always be above or below the projector. This doesn't help me much in my setup.
- Image can be shifted max 15% from the center using horizontal shift. Might be useful.

Better than no lens shift.

ps : No Vesa port ! So only DLP link ?

All that matters here is 1080p 3d using dual dvi if this works it blows away all others period. Input lag below 10ms, epson and optoma 1080p are only for watching blurays. I am so hoping this Acer works so i can play games on a large screen. I will pull the trigger as soon as it plays games from pc in 3d at 1080p 60hz per eye

Not really - unless you don't care about anything other than games.

True, but if it allows full-res 1080p 3d at a reasonable refesh and little lag, it does look very promising for gamers, and doesn't look like it gives up much elsewhere (except maybe brightness in comparison to the 3010, which may or may not matter much depending on your room).

Either way, it's always good to have more competitive options on the market!

Also wouldn't mind finding out if the rainbow effect is visible for gaming. My german forum contact says its only visible when on the startup screen (Dark Background, white Acer letters), or when the projector is synchronizing with the computer. I'm hoping this has something to do with the color wheel not using all segments at these stages or something (I'm not too informed about DLP intricacies). I'd hate to purchase it and find hideous rainbowing on games like Alan Wake, STALKER or Metro 2033 i.e. any games that rely heavily on flashlight use in pitch-black settings.

For the record I'm currently using a TW3200(Epson 8350?) and dont notice any lag, but I definitely did notice the step down of 120hz to 60hz when I moved from the acer H5360. Gaming seems to be fine on those Epson range of projectors, but "smoothness" is definitely lacking.

Hopefully with DLP's very low latency if Acer's "AcuMotion" is activated while gaming at 1080p@60hz that it'll look almost 120hz smooth, but remain within the latency threshold where you don't notice a delay when moving the mouse.

I noticed the RBE on the same startup screen but haven't noticed it since then. Also as expected for a DLP, the 3D so far has been ghosting free.

Hows that dynamic black working out? Is it invisible / no brightness pumping? How deep is the black in very dark scenes say compared to your Epson?

I know this has a 6 segment wheel but what colors, RGB/RGB or RGBCMY?

I don't completely understand this post - but I was responding to your assertion that "All that matters here is 1080p 3d using dual dvi if this works it blows away all others period." - which is patently false (except may be for you personally).

Sounds more like gamer trash talk than something we are used to in AVS.

I am guessing if you are using this for lots of 3D you will need to replace the bulb before 2000 hours. Unless brightness is not a concern.

This sounds like a really decent gaming projector, but for those of us who want really good colors for blurays as well, how does this fair?

Someone mentioned it before, but you almost never hear of people getting an Acer projector on these forums. If I had to award one of the new projectors coming out this winter with the looks like made in China sticker this would be it. I do have a little bit more to spend than what this projector costs, but there seems to be nothing in the $2000-2500 area that offers good gaming performance like this?

If newegg didnt have a "replacement only" return policy on this projector I would test one out and provide input lag screenshots.

OP, can you run this test with a CRT monitor or very fast LCD panel next to your projector and take a photo with a fast shutter speed? http://tft.vanity.dk/inputlag.html
