hello, hows it going today? i currently have a epson 705hd that i bought january of 2010 to replace my lcd tv.. and i finally hit my 5000hr mark this month.. i ordered my replacement bulb and it will be here today. even know the current bulb is going stong...

I wanna replace my 705hd and retire it into the bedroom and get a new projector for the livingroom.. for those who don't know about the 705 its very entry level hd... the blacks are more grey than deep. the colors really don't pop out at you..

i am thinking about going 3d as of right now, Its not really a main concern.. i wanna spend less than 1300 on a projector.. i thinking about casio because 1 thing most people agree on is its very bright. I do more watching in daytime than night cause i work overnight.. i'm thinking about the hd66. cause i can always do a 2 projector setup.. 1 for day 1 for night since i'm keeping the epson..

my main goal is vivid colors, deep backs, you know the drill.. but i need enough lumens for day light.. i would like ateast a little bit of a brighter image on the new projector than i'm getting on the epson now.. im not against going with another company outside of casio. i read all the complaints rumors and warning.. then also read reviews from "actual owners" who are happy with it.. My goal is order my new projector in 3hrs.. so im willing to listen to all views and opinions.. keep in mind i'm upgrading from a pj that has very flat colors..

At $1300? I'd be looking at 1080p projectors. Not many, if any owners of the casio on here that I have seen.

Acer H5360 -does dlp link and nvidia 3d and has better contrast than the casio 500$ amazon-see a casio in person before considering one.

the benq has a iris and does nvidia and dlp link also-I think is 550$ today with code WONDERFUL

I'd get an Epson 3010. But that's just me.

$1499 with 2 pair of glasses today on cyber monday.

You will want to look at the Casio in operation before buying. I took mine back, because the colors were so far off.

I tried the casio and I loved the machine but hated the picture.
Pros- its flat so you can lay it upside down on a bookshelf instead of mounting.
- bright enough
- quiet enough operation on eco mode
- no worries about lamp life
- extremely portable and perfect for backyard theater
-a barely acceptable speaker built in that can be handy.
-really fun to play around with settings screen size etc.
- looks decent as a pc monitor
-the minor rainbow effect isn't as noticeable as other dlps.
- tremendous versatility in image size. Motorized zoom and focus.
- very sharp image
-in a lot of applications it's perfect.
Cons
- poor black levels
- makes everybody look like zombies.

The image is just overly cool in color temperature no matter how you dial the settings in. It results in a dreary and lifeless image where the sunniest day appears cold and the rosiest of cheeks look to have been touched by death himself weeks if not months ago.

Yeah, that's what I thought you meant. But the thing is I don't think the Casio was ever designed to be a HT projector. It was always meant to be a data projector. Therefore for a data projector it's perfect. However, I know some people that don't mind using Casio as a HT projector. It's really up to preference and how picky you are about PQ haha
