Regarding LED and sequential color/potential RBE....I've seen a few lower end LED projectors and they do indeed have RBE. Some aren't even subtle. I'm wondering if slower flashing of the LED's (causing RBE) leads to more brightness, and that's why they do it this way. LED's have the potential to flash blindingly fast, but maybe that reduces light output.

Just a thought.

They answered my question regarding when the Q5 would be shipping:

"... expecting to be in online stores mid to late June, depending on delivery dates to the US. It will most likely first be sold first at Amazon and B&H, like the Q2...."

What is the projector you are talking about? I'll take a look at it.

The Qumi is tiny, projects a very good image, runs most presentation files with no PC (word, excel, PDF etc.) instant on/off, LED.

It is terrific for portable presentations.

Qumi Q5 production is starting May, shipping June 2012
from this link
I am still happy with my Q2. The one is more than adequate for my needs. Thus I can easily wait for coming upgrade.

Will I try Q5?

Definitely yes, as I use Qumi at max screen size recommended by the producer and sometimes I would love to enjoy brighter image.

I sent some feedback to Vivitek head quarters research and development team and stated the type of development customers want are
Qumi Q9 :-

-1080p Native 1920×1080 pixel resolution dlp chipset
-1600 lumen,
-Release time scale of 12 months
-In the shops for £600.

They said they are on the case because their competitors already are (see Viewsonic LED hybrid link), nothing stays still in the tech world.

.... ViewSonic Announces Full HD 1080p Home Cinema Laser Hybrid LED Projector ....looks interesting :-)

the thing is these are pico chip pjs made for the traveling business person-
your specs make for a full size pj that is to dim for most ht users. It misses the mark for 2 markets. The new viewsonic hybred meets those specs but will be 3000$usd.It will probably be a poor seller.

Yes, this projector is tiny. It easily fits in my briefcase, and you can give presentations with no PC or iPad, just a USB drive.

If tiny and very portable are a top priority for you, then it is worth a long look.

I recently, as early as last week, bought the Qumi Q2 and I'm extremely happy with it. This is our first projector and it's the center piece of our home entertainment system. It replaces a 25 year old 27" CRT television...yeah yeah...

I was a little bummed to find the Q5 coming out in the next couple of months, but after reading some of the specs and what additional features it brings on top of the Q2, I won't be upgrading.

I am not interested in the additional web browsing features. We have a PC for that. Even being portable, our PC is a bookshelf based ITX spec PC. It's not much larger than the Q2 anyways.

I'm not interested in the onboard memory, size(it's bigger with that battery anyways) or two watt speaker.

Granted, I'm not the market for this projector. I wanted something with good color, bright enough to use in our living room during the day and no worries about bulbs...that's what I got with the Q2.

If they make the "Q9" with the specs as suggested by Romi12, I'll get one.

I have an LCD TV in my living room, but still have a 25" CRT TV in the basement. So we are still out there, lol.

I wouldn't mind going with an LED projector to replace the CRT, but I am wondering how to make it the "center piece" of my entertainment system as you suggested? I can't have a projector sitting in the middle of my basement, with kids and all, and given various uses of the room, that will not do. I've got to have the projector located somewhere out of the way, where it can't be broken or messed with or obstructed. Does the throw and keystone correction of a projector such as the Q2/Q5 allow for flexible out of the way location?

The gentleman in the youtube video (at the 1 minute 48 seconds mark) mentions that they improved the optical engine.
Any chance that improvement could result in better and more even focus?

I think yes, they said in their article:
http://www.dday.it/redazione/6166/Qu...a-in-rete.html

following:
"Nel complesso ne guadagna la qualitÃ* di immagine, ora meno satura sul rosso, più luminosa e più definita, grazie anche alla nuova lente in vetro che va a sostituire la lente in plastica del modello precedente. "

TRANSLATED to english:

"Overall image quality gains, on a less saturated red, brighter and more defined, thanks to the new glass lens that replaces the plastic lens of the previous model."

There is post on official Vivitek Facebook:

"Vivitek Hi Jan, I'm waiting to hear from the European team on exact dates, but the dates should be similar to US - mid to late June."

It can stream wireless via Wifi dongle but I think its not good for videos or games. Look at this example of wireless streaming.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89DQErBXGIw

Here is info about wifi dongle:
http://www.vivitek.co.uk/pdfs/Vivite...4_12202011.pdf

Qumi Q5 will cost 799$ they said.

Well, I am not going to buy wifi dongle anyway. I think its not a problem of the projector. Its limited by Mirrorop sw which stream data via wifi. Look at this:
http://www.mirrorop.com/support_video_related.html
"Why the projection frame rate is slow?
A. MirrorOp needs the sender to encode screen images and the network (especially wireless network) to transfer massive real-time data to the receiver."

I think it will be useful for showing the pictures via mobile, presentation etc...just not for the video or the games.

There should be newer proccesor in the Qumi Q5, which should display fullHD video without any laging from the USB drive, so main portable feature for me. I hope the quality from USB drive will be same as from the HDMI
btw: HDMI is not mini-HDMI like at the Qumi Q2...its good!
