HP VP6321 Specs
Display Type DLP
Resolution XGA
Brightness 2000 lumens
Contrast Ratio 2500 :1
Weight 3.5 kg
Fan Noise 36
Lamp Life (Typical) Up to 4000 hours
Resolution: 1024x768 (native)

Projector is connected through DVI-HDMI cable to a HDMI port on an ATI Radeon 4850 video board.
It looks like the image on a new computer without the drivers for the video board.

If I set the saturation to 0 the B&W image looks ok but with colors the actors look horrible.

Sometimes, very rarely, the projector starts flickering and it stops after I reset the projector.

Please help me repair my projector.

I have tried to connect to the projector with my notebook with a VGA-VGA cable and it works perfectly.

But I can not change the cable for my computer, the dvi-hdmi cable right now.

Try a new cable...it looks like that is the problem - not the projector.

After 30 minutes on the VGA cable the picture suddenly returned to the horrible image as in my first post. I have used a different computer for the vga cable so it is not the computer or the cable for sure.

What else could it be?

Any other ideas? I would like to buy a new lamp but I am not sure this is the problem.

I don't think a new lamp would help. The projector is not worth the cost of a lamp. I have an old VP 6120 that has a great picture and works great but has over 3000 hrs on the lamp and I can't give it away no one is intrested. Look on ebay for 1024 x 768 projectors and you'll find many for less than the cost of a lamp.

Smart enough to know better, to old to care

Definitely NOT the lamp. The lamp would NEVER cause these problems.

I am ready to try my luck and open the projector for adjustments. I just need a hint what could cause this kind of problems. I tried to watch some TV show through my receiver and same problem so the problem is for sure coming from the projector.

There are NO adjustments to be made inside the projector. There are only connections, but this does not look like a connection issue. This appears to be a problem with the image processor. not something you can repair. But, you can go in and see for yourself.

That projector is about 7 years old, looks like it's time to replace it. Sorry.
