Hi all
Im new to this forum and have been searching it high and low for info on the LG HX300G and HW300G. Primarily what the differences are and which one is the better with regard to low fan noise and pic quality? I am looking to buy a LED pj and want to see if LG is the main contender out there. I've looked at you tube videos but you cant really tell if the fans are noisy or if the pictures sharp, as the cameras used to record the videos don't really reflect the true quality of the picture or how loud the fans are?

As i say i'm totally new to the pj scene and this forum, any help would really appreciated from the experts and owners of these two models from LG. I tried calling LG but the support i spoke were not really that informative. Anyway, thanks in advance to any help, advice and info.

cheers

HW300t is 1280x800 diamond pixel (16:10).

HX300g is 1024x768 square-pixel. (4:3).

Both about 300 lumens.

cheers poisonwolf for the info. I thought the HW300 had 300 lumens and the HX300G had 270 lumens?
any idea if one model is quieter with the fans than the other?
I read somewhere the HX300G was quiet? Would it be quieter than the HW300 because it has 270 lumens instead of 300?
Do you know of any advantages of having one over the other?
Do you have one the projectors at all? If so are you pleased with it?
Sorry about the amount of questions i'm throwing at you!
thanks again for your help, very grateful.

You are correct about the difference in lumens, hence the "about 300 lumens".

I don't know much about either as I do not own the HX300g nor the HW300t.

The one I do own is the HX350t; the bigger brother of the HX300g. It's 300 lumens with the same 4:3 ratio and 1024x768 resolution plus a built-in TV Tuner. I made a thread a while back talking about it and you can find it here.

I'm very pleased with the HX350t even though it's not HD or Full HD (for me this is not a deal breaker because my night-vision is not owl-like). The colors are awesome and I really can't complain. I've used it for everything from movie watching to game playing and I've been pleased with it. Just know that the HX350t is a pretty penny more than the HX300g mainly due to the inclusion of the TV-tuner.

HW300G: stretching problem. WXGA (10-20% more resolution). 26/34 db (10-20% more noise).
HX300G: no stretching problem. XGA (10-20% less resolution). 23/31 db (10-20% less noise).

IMO HX300G is a better option.

There is something strange about prices and distribution when you compare HW300G with his little brother HX300G: if you look for them in the web or stores, HW300G is usually cheaper and harder to find than HX300G. This is just the opposite of what it uses to be when a new product from the same line is released. Maybe LG and distributors really know about the HW problems, very noticeable particularly when you use to it play games more than watching movies (search on youtube, I havent find any video without stretching on HW300G while playing a video game).

HX300G could be another good option: same features like lumens, colors quality, divx player, conections, etc. Just less resolution (XGA 1024x768 vs WXGA 1280x800) but also less noise level (23 eco/31 normal vs 26 eco/34 normal). And no strecthing problems.

IMO noise level is more important than resolution in this projector that usually will be placed close to you and proyecting about 80''-100''.
