they(laser, led, hybrid ) will probably never be as cheap for the same amount of brightness, but you have to figure in value.

the new picos that came out arnt even really 720p,a cheap dlp chip is the only reason you are seeing them now probably.

Nah. I probably wouldn't pay 3 grand for any projector. But it represents a new wave of home theater grade projectors that are lampless and Affordable.
I don't think it will be long before most projectors are lampless and 1080p standard.

I won't be excited at all unless I see it in person AND don't see rainbows. The casio has bad RBE. The LG all LED models (HX300 I believe) - I 'tried' one from amazon. The RBE was still very present. I realize not everyone is sensitive to it, but we all know too well how this tech stuff goes. They build it up, then we all fall down.

The Benq short lifespan (61%, i.e. 1200 lumens after 5000 hours) LASER WXGA Short Throw unit will list at €3000,- might even be without VAT. The Viewsonic will also be 3000,-. At least that's what I was told at ISE last week.

They really missed the mark with 3k. I can get a very good HT unit with 5 bulbs for that price.

The EcoBright ZW210ST will have an MSRP of $1,499 and the EcoBright ZX210ST will have an MSRP of $1,399.

optomas price is lower than every one thought by 500$ or so.after they street they should drop more IMO.

Quote:

Two new solid-state illumination projectors from Optoma are now available to schools for evaluation. The EcoBright WXGA resolution ZW210ST and the EcoBright XGA resolution ZX210ST both employ Optoma’s fifth generation laser/LED hybrid solid state illumination technology. This green technology offers lower cost of ownership due to reduced power consumption, instant on/off, and the lamp-free and maintenance-free design.

Quote:

Aimed at the education market, both short-throw DLP units deliver a 2000 lumen brightness and have a contrast ratio of 80,000:1. Because of the performance of the SSI light source, Optoma has upgraded it’s warranty to 3 years for the projectors and 10,000 for the light source.

The EcoBright units offer a ton of connectivity, including HDMI, VGA-in, VGA-out, mini-USB, USB, RS232, RJ45, S-video, composite, audio in/out and an SD slot with 2GB of internal memory.

The EcoBright ZW210ST will have an MSRP of $1,499 and the EcoBright ZX210ST will have an MSRP of $1,399.

The latest projector market forecast from Pacific Media Associates predicts shipments of Laser/LED hybrid models will grow modestly this year, and then are expected to grow by more than 40% each year during 2013-2015.
