Sorry.. this is a basic constant height question.. but I am a bit confused on this issue.

Can someone please explain to me about the statment "Maintains constant height for 2.35, 1.85, 1.78 on same screen." in the specs of this JVC DLA RS55U projector?

It was my understanding that in order to maintain "contstant height" and also maximize panel usage through anamorphic squeeze, the actual lens in front of the projector needs to be moved/changed - as in the panamorph type setting..

How does JVC claim constant height while switching between 2.5 and 1.85 pictures? Does it actually switch the lenses within itself - it has to, for it to use the full panel for 2.35 picture, yes? Or is it just "zooming out" for 2.35 pic and even shutting off the unused pixels (to avoid ambient black bars)?

Audvid,

You need to post this in the $3k plus thread and I would post it in the jvc RS55 owners thread.
