I'm looking to put a projector in my basement, and I need help getting started. I think I'm going to need a short throw projector because I want the wall to be about 6 ft from the front of the projector. I'd like a relatively large screen size at that distance, i'm hoping for something around 100 inches.

Other than knowing I want a 1080p projector, short throw, (don't really care about 3d but it would be a bonus) I don't have too many other requirements. There is a window on the wall adjacent to where I will project, but I can block that out if brightness is an issue

I'm not really sure where to start, and when I look at projectors online I'm having a hard time identifying if they are short throw or not. How can I tell? Do you guys have specific models that you recommend at an entry level price range?($800-$1300). It looks like I might want to consider the Optoma HD20 but that seemed to be about 2 years old.

The Optoma GT750 is very short-throw (i think it was 5 feet for my 100 screen), but it is 720p.

Plus side, it does 3D

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping for a 1080p projector. Does anyone else have an suggestions of popular 1080p projectors with short throw?

Additionally, does the short throw ration affect the image quality at all?

I've been looking at various models over the past day, and the gt750 is sounding more like what I'd like. It seems like the short throw really limits my options.

Will I miss the 1080P? Other than that I like that it's a "gaming projector" as I will hook an xbox up to it, and that it is 3d ready. You can't hardly beat the price. Is there a comparable 1080P model?

Another short throw 720p you should consider- the BenQ W710st. Has a claimed 10,000:1 contrast ratio, 2500 lumens and is 3d compatible.
