My ceiling mounted projector would be easiest plugged into rear wall where I could plug a spare power strip I have. Nothing else would likely plug into it. The power strip is nondescript and doesn't have any lights to tell me if its protecting or not which gives me pause. On back of strip it says max load 15 A 125 VAC 60 HZ. I was going to place an order at monoprice today and wondering if I spent an extra $6 and also ordered this 7 Outlet Power Surge Protector w/ Sliding Safety Cover - 2450 Joules - Plastic w/ 5ft Cord if it would be an improvement?http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

It would have surge indication where as my current one may have no value there and I wouldn't know it right? I've noticed in my new apartment that when some things turn off/on, my lights frequently dimm or get brighter. This power strip has Noise filter Attenuation: up to 20dB. could this be beneficial for this? It says it has power shutdown. Might this be a bad thing? Shutting off power to projector when it shouldn't, not allowing projector to cool down before shutting down?

Another option- I could run my projector extension cord to the ground and along the perimeter of the room to hook up with my Back-UPS ES 550 Battery Backup, 550VA/330 Watt about 40 ft. away. I'd have to buy a 25 ft extension cord. It could share the 4 battery back up ports that already being used by my dvr, modem and router. The other non battery back up plugs on APC are used by my denon 989 amp & sony "32 trinitron TV. Would this be too many things plugged into APC? On positive If I do this I gain the security if outage projector will be able to power down and cool lamp. Although this may not be a big issue because my cool down process is short anyway after power off- less than 30 seconds.
