Am replacing an Acer H5360 that developed "white dots" and am looking for a replacement that fits in my 3D setup. As I invested in a VP3D1 processor and several DLP link 3D glasses.
\\begin mini rant
Darn that H5360, after almost exactly 12 months of ownership developed a white spot, then two, then five. Now I count at least a dozen and another dozen are flickering. Reading current reviews I'm not alone, sad face indeed.
I figure I won't be able to get very much on ebay for the old unit, and the EE in me likes the idea of having spare parts on hand.
Well if you have another PJ that does 1080P then OK, I suppose but I guess it also depends on what you use the PJ for. The 5360, while a fine unit is already yesterdays news and you need to decide if you are throwing good money after bad. Before too long the H9500BD will be yesterdays 1080P and 3D news. So what do you want and need?
I looked into the manufactures and a few 3rd party warranties. Dead pixels are never expressly stated in the terms. You think they would for display type warranties.
edit: scratch that, squaretrade will cover dead pixels. Can't find specific terms for digital projectors however. :sigh:
Thanks for pointing out the H9500BD to me, but my budget is still around $600 so 720p 3D is fine for me. If I'm going to pay thousands for a nicer projector I would expect it to come with a 5 year or 3,000 hour warranty. Ridiculous, I know.
