Check out post # 1816.

The focus issue on this person's projector was fixed with a small metal washer.

I wonder if these other projectors have the same problem ?

Maybe the Lens is not alined with the lens housings ? warped lens mount to lens housing ? bad quality control ?

Check out post # 598 picture of the Acer K330.

The Acer K330 and the LG PA70A has the same DMD DLP processor the DPP6401.

These pictures of the Acer K330 gives you a good idea how the LEDs and Lens are built next to each other.

If you look at some of those pictures of the Acer K330 disassembled you would see that they have the blue LED right next to the lens and lens housing without any heat shield protecting the lens and lens housing.
If you look at the DLP DMD chip heat sink, they placed it right next to the power supply with those transistors.eek.gif
No cooling pipe going to the blue LED light engine.eek.gif
Is it any wonder these projectors have focusing issues ?
Also in that one link I sent you the focus issue on the Q2 Vivtek projector was fixed by placing a metal washer..... warped lens mount ? or housing ?

I have the "Small brother" (PB60G). I wonder how they fitted everything in such a small body. By the way after 3-4 hours of usage arround the lens it dosent get hot at all.

What is the price of your LG (PB60G)? Did you bought it online?

What type of screen are you guy using with this PJ? I'm building my screen and a friend gave me some material ( the kind that looks like thick shower liner). It's white and gives off a good image but I notice there is too much of a blue tint to some scenes. I was looking at the Starz series Boss and I notice the black and white opening scenes look "blueish" instead of black and white or grey. I had my LED TV on at the same time so I could compare.

Is it the screen, the PJ or the settings?

Thanks for the video Jagermester....So what is your personal impression with LG PB60G Led Projector , Do you think that another 100 lumens is better than the 4 clones?

Until my basement is finished, I am using a 100" pull down screen purchased from Frys for $60. If you have your projector set to "vivid", try the "warm" setting. I found "vivid" had too much blue/purple. Also there are two "expert" slots where you can modify and save various settings to compare and contrast how they look.

How's the brightness at 100"? What energy saving mode do you run in?

This is my first led PJ, so cant compare with the 4 clones, but i think they are nearly the same, maybe contrast its better. Im sure its not 10000:1 as written, but still. Saw a comment from someone else, who had the 4 clones, and he wrote its almost the same, but the picture quality its better.
By the way it is also 500 lumens not 600. Wrong advertisement on many site!
My impressions:
+ Small, great design, good remote control, power efficient, quick cool down, near the lens it dosent get hot even after 2-3 hours usage. (it does get hot but on the other site, near the fans), good picture quality (contrast), great connectivity. Lots of future in settings. Good internal sound compare to its 1w+1w.
- Loud fan noise on maximum power saving mode (check my video about fan noise: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQMPDVX12H8 ),
focus issue. It can be vary of product, as i see some PA70g owners experienced the same problem. I cant get focused the picture everywhere. Down and on the middle of the screen everything focused well, but on the top, specially on the up right corner i cant get it very clear. If i do, then the other side its out of focus. (well, it is not that bad, only can recognize with texts. with movies nothing at all, and im not using it for reading news, facebook etc., so its not a big deal for me.), from USB it dosent support audio in some downloaded movies, Diamond shape pixels.

FINALLY!!! adorama, amazon and LG website have proper specifications, and seem to be in stock too, for the elusive LG-PB61U which is good news because I need a projector with a built-in tuner and better contrast ratio than the hw300T:)

Any problems with the focus of the lens as the other projectors have like the clone projectors ?
I talked with my brother the other day and he told me to wait for the LED 1080p Projectors.
Yes, I know, it might be a long wait for me unless I win the lottery.
Anyone ? will I really miss that much if I go with a 720p projector over the 1080p ? or will it just a little bit of improvement over the 720p ?
My LG HX300 still works so I can hold out and see what the street price with be in the USA of the Acer Hybrid Laser 1080p Projector.confused.gif

On certain items Frys just happens to beat the competition - leastways I have gotten several electronic items from them for prices signficantly lower than competitors including Amazon. Although I am a bit ticked off now, because I paid more for this same projector 3 weeks ago - wonder if I can get a price match.

Hi everyone, thanks to all for the in depth reviews of the new LG's and I have to say I do like what I'm hearing. But I have noticed a lot of you have a different model LG than I do, except for poison wolf. I have the HX350T and I have never had any of the problems anyone else has had. No focus problems, no heating issues at all and no noise. The image is very crisp and clear, I've replaced three different bulb projectors with this and that is at. A 106" size. I've even had this up to a 150" for the heck of it at my job. Now don't get me wrong, a good bulb will be brighter and of course 1080 is still better than this, but I don't think worth the extra money for a supposed increase in lumens and maybe a contrast bump. And I don't have those annoying diamond pixels either. I run my ps3 and xbox throu this along with a media player and I can't complain at all. I only run this in normal mode and haven't even calibrated it yet! For anyone who can pick this up for a good price I say go for it. You won't be disappointed wi it and you'll be surprised how often you will use it, I use mine every single day. I love my projector and can wait it out for a real 1080 contender that isn't 3000.00 either. I hope this helps, Kai

My sentiments match yours exactly.

No focus issue with HX350t, very litlte noise, etc. Nothing.

Only reason why I'm itching for the PA70G is because I got my HX350t initially for just $250 (BNIB). Lol.

And if Frys is having it on sale for $450.....that's REALLY tempting. Lol.

Does the PA70G have a powerbrick or is it like the clones where it is built into the PJ?

PA70G has a powerbrick.

I just got mine at Fry's last week for $550 ($600 after tax). It is great for video, but I am still bothered by the focus issue. The upper left will not go into focus. You can balance the focus between the upper left and the rest of the screen, but it is still annoying when you are looking at text on a computer. It's my first projector and I am quite satisfied with the brightness.

Now I'm hearing that it's going to be on sale for $450... you can bet I'm returning or at least exchanging this thing on Labor Day because of the focus issue.

FYI, per my previous post on the subject, I have been able to get the projector to go into 3D mode while using VGA at 1280x768. On HDMI, not so much.

Ah...this makes me hesitant of wanting to even pick this up for movies....cause my HX350t has no focus issues whatsoever.

Maybe I'll just live with the 4:3 for another year =)

its all about the contrast ratio not so much brightness difference. I had the hw350 but it was only watchable in the dark. With the pa70g i can watch with the lights on in my room.

I just went and exchanged it. My new one seems to focus much better but I haven't had a chance to put it on a flat wall yet. I would NOT discourage anyone from getting the projector just because of that focus issue if you intend to watch video and not computer desktop. At $450 the deal is definitely there. My Frys had 20 of these. Nvidia vision 3d surround anyone?

Guys, you should submit your price match to Amazon to see if they can match it.

I have so much in Amazon gift cards ...it would be awesome if I could use it through them instead even if there was tax.

So... to follow up now that I have put it on a flat wall. Focus is still not great. This one definitely has different characteristics from the last one. Actually, the focus dial doesn't seem like it travels as far as the other one did. Strange. This one never really gets fully sharp in the middle, but is close enough for me to forget about it. If 100% was fully sharp I'd say it gets to 95% sharp. Sharpness is also uneven, with one area being sharper than others. At $450, who cares... I can live with this easy.

Still...my screwdriver hand is twitching, thinking about opening this sucker up.

Welp, I tried to open it up. Four screws on the bottom came out easy enough. Then, I tried wiggling the two major plastic pieces that make up the housing. I started to notice that the gap between them on the bottom started opening up. Couldn't figure out how to unhinge it, so I jammed credit cards in the openings to see what I could see. I did help, but I couldn't quite figure out how to open it. Oh well, focus isn't bad enough to break this thing trying to figure it out. I did really want to see what the inside of an LED projector looked like though.

So anyone guess how long this sale would be until ? for $ 449 ? at least until Labor day ?

Yes, it's tempting to get this LG PA70G at that price for the cost of even the clone projectors.
