I am helping my dad make a theater room. Based on info here, I went with the Epson 3010.

It's going to be in a basement (95% light control) and the largest we can get the image is 135 diag.

I've read that with the 3010 it's better to get a grey screen since it throws so much light, but when I talked to the projector people ...people, they said that people only get white screens now....

So I'm assuming they don't have any idea what they are talking about.

What sort of screen would be decent (not break the bank) would be a good option for him? I was thinking a fixed screen since I was under the impression they give the best quality for the dollars.

Thanks!

The 3010 is bright, but at any size 120" or more you will want all the brightness you can get, especially for 3D. Grey screens are less necessary now that most projectors don't really need a boost in contrast.

Seymour AV sells acoustically transparent screen material that you could use to make a great fixed screen, and then you could mount your front three speakers behind the screen for the very best sound as well.

Im on a 140" 1.3 and its too bright. Expecting it will be settle down after a few hundred hours. I wouldnt go grey but I do wish I had a 1.0 gain. 3D mode is ridiculous, Im afraid someone will call the fire department.

Heh, nice. So for 135 a 1.0 gain white screen sounds like a good route to go! Any recommended brands or sites?
