It started last night, way too loud for me to watch any movies. I opened it up, thinking it might be the fan (what other moving parts are there?), but no.

It starts when I turn on the bulb. I hadn't moved it, changed the focus or zoom...nothing that would cause any change.

I pressed on different parts of the board, hoping to find some piece of plastic that was vibrating, but no luck.

I took out the bulb, but that didn't stop it.

I've had this long enough to justify replacing it, but I will probably be moving and have no idea of room dimensions and whether I'd even be able to use a projector or would have to settle for a flat-screen television.

Any ideas? Has this happened to anybody else?

I had the same problem with my ABIS projector and its not the bulb or fans at all, but in fact its the projector bulb transformer and its causing the hum because its due to the magnetic field produced in the iron core causing the core material and the windings to vibrate.

I suggest to do what I did, which is to unscrew the transformer and place some rubber or foam in-between the transformer and the plate that fixes it to the case then place foam around it but not touching any wires but also making sure it is still well ventilated.

I hope this helps smile.gif
