hi all, i'm setting up a home theater (just a regular room, not acoustically treated or anything)

here are some info regarding the room/setup

room: 5.8m (L) x 4.8m (W) x 2.55m (H). room is painted dark(ish) gray.
screen: 1.5m (H) x 3.6m (W) 2.40 cinemascope aspect ratio. white painted wall
carpet is brown
seating position is @ 4.5m from the front wall
projector mounting position can be whatever the optimal distance is for the selected projector
rest of the front wall is painted black, rest of the room is painted dark(ish) gray, ceiling is white

of course 2D image quality needs to be excellent as it will be the main bulk of the viewing but 3D needs to be decent as well. room is "almost" light controlled, only "almost" because during the day it's not completely as dark as a cave due to light seeping from a side window.

i was all set at getting the panasonic ae-7000 until i saw the not-so favourable feedback from here (and other places as well), it was panasonic because of the lens memory feature which i need for my 2.40 screen.
and i've only just discovered that the screen size i had in mind might just be too big for the ae-7000 hence i started looking at the Epson who are known to be really bright. Epson seems to fit the bill except not having the lens-memory function. i don't have a budget for an a-lens unfortunately.

so can you all please steer me to the right direction on what to do. budget for the projector tops at AU$3,200.00 where the panasonic currently sits, the epson TW8000 (5010) is around the AU$3K mark. i believe the 5010 doesnt support a-lens (please correct me if i'm wrong) and i dont have a budget for a TW9000 (6010) due to other upgrades i'm thinking of doing (see further below)

3D is almost a must, for the kiddos

would using the HTPC for everything and setting it's resolution to 1920x810 be the best bet, meaning then that the Epson is the best suited projector? i've never played bluray on the htpc (doesnt have bd drive) nor 3D, is 3D doable from htpc?

rest of the system:

Harman/Kardon AVR507LE receiver (looking to upgrade to a Marantz 7005 / 7007 AVR)
Monitor Audio Bronze Series speakers (looking to add another set of rears for 7.1)
Gaming PC
Satellite TV

many thanks and looking forward to your replies
