About to upgrade to a projector. Looking for an all-around good 2d-3d projector for under 2000.00.

I was about to purchase the Optimo HD33 but then with more research I am leaning towards the Epson 3010. That being said I am starting to play games with my kids. It is fun to play split screen with my little guy and would like to keep video gamming a part of our lives.

What would those of you suggest in the above situation. Will the Epson cut it for games like Rayman/mario and a few years from now FPS (not online though).

Thanks in advance

Regards

Rob

I have now. Thanks. That is a lot of info. Would the epson work with games like rayman and not playing online?

Yes, it works for gaming it is just that people that need fast kill ratios with no lag in FPS like games would prefer something else.
The Optoma hd33 is a bit better than the 3010 overall if purely basing it on 3D performance and even average 2D image quality, the 3010 I believe has the better warranty and is a bit brighter.

If the Optoma hd33 can fit in your environment, it makes a very good projector for both movies and games, but I would get an extended warranty for it if you can.

Before making a bundled purchase you might want to read the hd33 thread about what glasses people liked and the Pro's / Con's to each.
I'm not saying you have to, but if you are super serious about 3D comfort and what not, might be worth it. Otherwise go for it, not a bad deal, but if you have to pay sales tax you will do better using a purely online vendor.

Did you make sure the mounting location on the hd33 worked within your environment. It has no lens shift and limited zoom ability, use my calculator in my signature to help you find placement functionality. The projector needs to be placed within a very specific location to the screen both from a height standpoint and the distance back from the screen. Although the Epson 3010 also does not have lens shift, so it isn't much better from placement flexibility.

Wow. That is a calculator. The projector will be 10' back from face of wall. It will ceiling mount under the hvac duct (which drops it 6" from the ceiling) to the mount.
