Shopper: Is that [pointing at projector] an LCD?

Salesman: No thats a Projector, you use it on the wall with a different screen.

Shopper: (NSIS) Yes, but is it LCD or DLP, you know?

Salesman: Oh, well that one doesnt use a lamp so its going to be an LCD. You see, the new LCDs don't use lamps, they use pixels.

This is a true story. I was the shopper, and the salesperson was a Brandsmart uSA salesman. I did not know where else to put this, but felt the need to share. You guys are about the only ones I know that could appreciate this story.

Yep. It was pretty hard to believe. I hate having any kind of dialog with those guys, but never gave it a second thought that they would not have even been able to answer that question. It really makes being a B&M consumer/browser difficult or useless.

Amazing! I've had salesmen try to bs me about electronics for years. But I don't think I've ever come across one that was as blatantly ignorant as that guy. Whenever I walk into an electronics store anymore, I always ask a few pertinent questions of the over-attentive salesman to test his knowledge if I'm interested in a product. It usually only takes about two questions to figure out if they're full of $#!+ or not. Wisdom has taught me to do my own homework before making any serious inquiries or buying decisions.

Then there's the pathological liar types. Last year my wife and I were in the market for new smart phones. We went to the local Go Wireless store and talked to one particular salesman. My wife started asking the questions and I just listened. The guy told her that you couldn't use an iPhone as a hot spot. When my wife asked, then why does Verizon advertise that you can? He replied, well, they may say that, but in practice they just don't work. He continued to poo poo iPhones and kept pushing a cheap discontinued mini smart phone. We checked it out online at home and discovered it had several short comings, including having terrible call quality. As we left the store, my wife exclaimed to me that there was no way in hell she was going to buy anything from that salesman. We ended up going to a real Verizon store, got her an iPhone complete with hotspot capability and it has worked flawlessly.

Remember... no matter where you go, there you are.

2 years later....

Customer - Hi, my projector is all black but I hear sound. I'd like to buy 1,920 250watt pixels please.

Salesperson - Uhh haa. Sure. No problem. But first, if I may, um, ...do you think can you tell me who the president is or what year this is?
