I am looking for a projector for my dedicated theater in my basement. Light will be completely controlled, and projector will be used for movies and TV (mostly football). The largest screen I have room for is 90 inches.
I don't care about 3D, but have found that all the projectors in that price range also do 3D. I was looking at the VPL-HW30ES. Can anyone recommend a non 3D projector below $3000? Are there any 2D only models available that do just as good 2D as the more expensive 3D models?
Any help is appreciated.

Ltbbw, where did you get it from? Looking for the 8700ub also.
All I can find is around 2k for a new one.

Why was you looking at just non 3D? A RS40 and RS45 could be had for under $2500, much better 2D than the UB8700.

I cannot find any sources for RS45 for under $2500. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.

I did purchase a factory refurb from visual apex. So far my experience with refurbs has been excellent. I have only found the RS40/45 for around $2900. They may be better than the 8700ub, and within my price range, but at $1300 less, I couldn't pass on the epson.

Avs had RS40s for $1800 and 45s for $2100. They were b-stocks. But new 45s can be found for $2450. But the Epson is very good also. Still a win
