I bought a 6100 new in 2009 (or 2010?) and have had a very nice experience both with Epson customer service and the unit itself. We had a power surge a month or so ago and I am having to replace the ps3 and receiver and thought I would give a hard look at the new low end projectors while I am upgrading.

I would like to know if the picture quality might be considerably better (it is not quite as clear as I was expecting but it is pretty good with blu rays). My wife has the first generation Samsung LED 5000 or similar model number and the picture is just incredible. I would love to know if the 3010 can match this. Going from her tv to the 6100 is almost like going from HD to SD comparing titles like Despicable Me and Avatar. Or if the 3D alone is worth it.

This is on a 110" screen.

Please ask any questions needed if I overlooked some needed details!!

Thanks,

John

Te 3010 would be an upgrade in brightness and of course 3D but a set backward in picture quality. I'd go for a 5010/6010 if you want an upgrade unless the brightness is needed for ambient light use I wouldn't recommend the 3010 over the 6100.

Thanks for the reply, Bob. IMO the 6100 handles what little light enters the room quite well. It is in a room above the garage and I have room darkening shades on both windows. I usually even turn on one ceiling light when the kids are up there with me and the 6100 is still bright enough to put on a good show.
