My HC6100 Lamp is almost dead. I thought this lamp was retailing at $175 brand new from epson or so I thought when I bought that this was one of the cheaper lamps around. Looks like Epson wants $250 now (or has always wanted that).

Are lamps just like camera batteries where most of them are faked? I see the same bulb, genuine, with hundreds of poistive feedbacks about the same item, on e-auction for $100 less...

Is this the same as it always is, "buy genuine or pay the price later?" or have any of you bought from an auction site?

I bought a lamp off Ebay for my 6100 about 8 months ago for about $210 but it was an OEM lamp. Make shure it has an epson warrenty with an epson serial #. I would never buy a generic lamp to save a $100 its not worth the gamble.

Much appreciated reply. I'll try and find an OEM one, for sure. Or just buy from a store.
