I purchased an Acer K130 projector about a month ago and enjoy it very much but am unable to have it display 3D content.

I connected projecter via HDMI to a Sony BDP S570 3D Blu-ray disc player. It has built-in Wi-Fi and Blu-ray 3D playback capability. Regular (non 3d) movies and internet content (i.e. Netflix, Amazon) work great --- fantastic!

Likewise I can connect directly to the HDMI video output on my DirecTV sattelite box to view programming -- except when I try a 3D content channel.

When I go to the menu on the K130 and into the 3D section, the option to turn 3D on is disabled.

I have 3D active shutter glasses but the projector won't even try to show 3D content -- the disc player and sattelite box show a message that the "tv" I'm trying to play the content on needs to be a 3D device! :annoyed:

Has anyone successfully projected 3D with the K130? If so how do you make it work?

Is the only way to use 3D, on the K130, with a computer that has a video card that emits 3D signals and a 3D Blu-ray player?

You have a "3D Ready" projector, which means you need to connect to a PC with 3D video output.
From your manual:
Quote:
Note: It needs correct settings on graphic card 3D application program for
correct 3D display.
Note: The SW players, such as Stereoscopic Player and DDD TriDef Media
Player can support 3D format files. You can download these three players
on web page below,
- Stereoscopic Player (Trial): http://www.3dtv.at/Downloads/Index_en.aspx
- DDD TriDef Media Player (Trial):
http://www.tridef.com/download/TriDef-3-D-Experience-4.0.2.html

If you want your projector to be fully 3D where you can watch whatever you want or play 3D games on the PS3, you need one of these two devices:
Optoma 3D-XL Converter Box
View Sonic 3D HD Video Processor

Both cost a little over $200. Otherwise you need to connect to a PC and output using one of the 3D SW players listed above.
