My basement is approximately 40' X 25' with a soffit that runs the whole 40 ' down the middle. On one side, 120" from the soffit to the wall, I will have my HT setup. My seating will be approx 12-14 ft. from screen adn I am looking for a PJ that will work well with this screen Elite Screens DTE97C78H Osprey Tensioned Dual Screen (97-Inch 2.35:1 Aspect Ratio) + (78-Inch 16:9 Aspect Ratio). I mostly watch movies and think I would enjoy a dual screen setup like this. This is a semi-budget project and I have about $2500 for the screen and PJ. I can get that screen for about $1000. 3D is a plus, not a requirement. I would also like any advise about the screen I have selected. I am height limited (only 7ft) so I want the PJ just behind our couch so I do have a little room to play with. Hence the 12-14 ft. I really want to stick with an electric screen. Let me know about any experiences. My HT setup will be 40% TV, 50% movies, and 10% video games. I have a Tivo Premiere, PS3, Xbox 360, and a custom built HTPC that I will be using. If I forgot anything, please let me know. thanks in advance for any advice!

Was thinking about this one Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 3010, Full HD 1080p, 2D and 3D Home Theater Projector with Integrated Speakers (V11H421020) but not sure about the throw.

Anybody? I have almost complete light control and looking for a good PJ? I have tried to read all the info, but can't wrap my head around whether or not this PJ will work for me. After reading more, I don't think I should choose it.

I have the 3010 and I love it.

As far as the throw goes...

I think you should reconsider the screen size at 12' to 14' feet thats a small screen. Something in the 120" range would be much better. I never hear any body complain that they went to big. Hieght at 7' is a problem for some projectors but there are work arounds like screen closer the the floor or tilting the screen back, or you need vertical lense shift. I have a 110' 16:9 screen and sit 8' from screen with an HD33 might be to close for some but I love it as it fills my whole vision great for 3D.

Smart enough to know better, to old to care

Thanks for the tip. I was looking at the Optima HD33 and the Panny 7000. Not sure if I want to spend the extra $$$. I can move the couch closer to the screen, that is not a problem. I am most interested in a 2.35:1 screen. I just think it will be easier to mask the sides then the bottom and top of the screen. I just think it will be easier to mask the sides then the bottom and top of the screen. I think I can manage a 103" electric screen in the space provided. Possibly the Cinetension 2. Not sure yet though.

One last question. Looking at the projector calc, does the hd33 have to be at least 8.3 inches above the screen or no more than 8.3 inches above the screen? (106" screen ceiling mounted)
