my mother has a benq PE8700 ( DLP ) however the lamp is past the 1950 hours. so it needs to be changed. that said i have to say i was always really impressed how well the movies looked on it.

but i was thinking i would buy her a new projector. maybe a new benQ like W1060 or W1100

my mother watches most of the time old movies like miss marple movies. hercule poirot. hitchcock etc. and they are mostly released on dvd.

i did someback check on LCD projectors and although they are great with new material released on bluray. i wonder how the LCD projectors are with older tv shows and movies compared with DLP projectors on DVD.

price i like to spend is between 800 dollars and 1500 dollars.

Thanks in Advance.

If she is happy with the current image just get her an OEM lamp and she will be happy. New lamp will be like an upgrade with brightness she didn't know she was missing!

Thanks for the answers!

i checked for a new lamp. but it is 400 euros. for 900 euro, i can get a brand new benq W1100.

so will buy that 1 for her. and to be honest also looking forward how it will look compared to the old one she has.

benq pe8700 is only 720p max. while these news ones are 1080p. also have HDMi input as well. which will make it more easy for me to connect it for her too.
