I'm in the market to purchase a 8350 possibly this month and wanted to gauge the AVS communitys feedback on whether it makes sense to pay a bit more for 3D capability. The purpose for this PJ will be movies, casual programming, and sporting events etc.

To me 3D seemed more like a gimmick not a necessity. For those that own a 3d PJ what do you recommend? I was hoping to scoop a 8350 around $1k or maybe a bit lower if it goes on sale. How much more do I need to spend for a good 2D/3D PJ? I know that the 8350 is really good at 2D so I wouldn't not want to downgrade the 2D HD quality with a 3D projector.

What are some good 3D PJs you guys recommend? I envision myself watching 2D programming >80% of the time.

Thanks for sharing your feedback.

3D is neat but not everyone likes it. The Optoma hd33 or Acer 9500bd for smaller screens in 3D, or the Benq w7000 for the bigger 3D screens.

You can probably spend as little as $300 to $500 more than the 8350 for a 3D - 1080p projector. If you go refurb, you can sometimes get the Optoma hd33 even less. There is also the Benq w1070, but not sure when it will be released.

Thanks for the info. As far as screen size - I'd like to go with a 120" screen. I was planning to purchase a new unit for reliability/warranty etc.
