So we're having our house built, and I'm trying to decide where to put the wiring connections for a ceiling-mounted projector.

Here's the details on the room: 23' long with 10' ceilings. There is a support beam that runs across the room, it comes down about 14 inches, is 18 inches wide, the front edge of it is about 7.5' from the wall where the screen would be. And the other thing complicating matters is we wanted to put a ceiling fan in there, too. So right now they have the projector about 12' from the wall, and the fan about 14' from the wall, which obviously will conflict. So either the projector needs to move closer, or the fan farther back, or some combination. I guess with a 52" fan there should be around 3 feet separation?

Questions -

1) What is an optimum distance from the wall for the projector?

2) How low does the projector need to be mounted to clear the support beam?

I don't have the projector yet, just started looking around. Probably want to keep it under $1500, a couple I've considered are the Epson 8350 and Mitsubishi HC4000.

Thanks for your help!
