Never noticed anything like this on any TVs before... maybe I wasn't paying attention, but on my Mitsubishi 73C8 I've had for 4 years I've never even noticed any brightness issues, everything always looked uniform from movie to movie, never had to adjust a thing since 2008 when I bought it...

But with HD3300, some scenes in movies get very bright and washed out turning blacks into light greys followed by some that are crispy black... on and off

Some movies are very light (LOL, for example) which made me turn down brighness 8-10 notches...

For example Avatar 3D is way darker than Dragon 3D... means, I can't use the same brighness setting from movie to movie, have to adjust it all the time, which is annoying as hell

Anybody else having these issues? Is this the way movies are shot or is this is some kind of PJ gremlin?

Sounds like ImageAI. Try to turn it off in the menu.

Does your projector have an iris? My mits hc5500 has an iris and I turned it off becaues that change in lightness in my case was the dynamic iris trying to keep up with hte movie.

I had a similar problem with a TV except in that instance it had a sensor that detected light in the room and adjusted for it. Dumbest feature ever. In that case shutting off that feature also stopped the problem.

I can't find that feature in the menus. Where is it?

To the next poster: I'm not sure about that iris thing.

"System" - "Lamp Settings" - "Lamp Mode".

` Bright: Choose “Bright” to increase the brightness.
` STD: Choose “STD” to dim the projector lamp which will lower
power consumption and extend the lamp life.
` Image AI
Image AI improves the contrast of the picture by optimizing the
brightness of the lamp according to the picture content.

You don't know what I'm talking about because I googled it and I don't think your pj has a dynamic iris. Clearly that's not hte source of your problem. smile.gif

No, mine is set to standard in 2D and bright in 3D. Image AI is not used.
