i do my best to help. asap i make video.

Hi all, just a quick question, I hope somebody can help me.. I'm about to buy the benq mw519, but can anybody tell me if these 3d glasses can work with it?

http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/cpindex.pl?ctn=PTA508/00&hlt=Link_Overview&scy=IT&slg=ITA

They're the Philips PTA508/00, I found them for 30$, or if somebody can suggest another model, that doesn't cost much.. thank you very much!

Hello ! I'm planing to buy a projector and I found TW519 , 1280x800 px, 3D at very good price. I compared the specs with MW519 and seems to be identical. Any thoughts? Does anybody know the color wheel speed of this model?

Yes i am also keen on knowing if the rainbows are bad in this projector.

Is the movie watching experience ok with this projector or is it downright not made for movies ?

I had a HD70 and am upgrading to this. I hope the movie viewing quality wont be worse than the HD70 ?

I personally thought that it was very fine for movies. I did not have any of the 10+ people that checked it out mention any issues with rainbows.

I would offer a suggestion that you also consider searching the slickdeals dot net forum for deals on the W1070. Now that it's been out for a few months, the price has dropped and is getting closer to this projector. It's native widescreen format is better suited for home theater use and would be worth considering.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. The price for the W1070 is more than double of this one in my country. If i import it i wont have any warranty or service backup.

If you say 10+ people have seen this and its ok then i will just go for it. Are there any pixel artifacts and such other anomalies. Im not looking for extreme perfection. Since i was happy with the optoma HD70 itself.

How are the colors and overall image quality, good blacks ? They dont have to be exceptional though.
My viewers will all be seeing the image from 12' or more away. No closeup viewing. Also my HD clips wont be more than 1hr long. Plz do let me know.

Your experiences with this projector will really really help me as i need to pick it in a day or 2.

Thanks

Overall I though it was very acceptable. In your situation, at double the price, I think you'll be very happy with the MW519. I did not notice any significant pixel artifacts as long as the source content was good. Obviously if you try to send a VHS video tape signal through any large projector image you'll be disappointed. But a DVD or better quality signal looks nice. I was very happy with the increase in brightness offered by this unit over previous projectors that I've owned (including the HD70). It helped overcome a decent amount of ambient light that would have made my other projector's image unwatchable.

Hi,

Its nice to know youve owned the HD70 also, i currently have one. And i was very satisfied withe the colors and contrast. how would you compare this in quality to the HD70, since i very very rarely only used to see rainbows in the HD70. Will this at least be on par. And how about the colors ? ive never owned a VHS tape. My dad did have a colection those days. All my content will be HD highbitrate clips playing off a pc and only via HDMI. So for a person whos been experiencing the HD70 will this perform equal to or maybe if im lucky outperform the HD70 in color etc ?

Would you know if this has 10bit color processing ? Because it states 1.07 billion colors.

The only other contender i found within the same price range was the OPTOMA W1015 which has higher specs like 3200 ANSI, 15,000:1 CR, 6 segment color wheel spinning at 2x (7200rpm), (i think 7200 rpm is 2x physical speed, but if the 6 segment = RGBRGB then its actually 4x speed ?). I havent been able to find what 6 segments the Benq has and what the wheel speed is. They never ever mention it.

Right now my 3 options are Benq MW519, Benq W750 and OPTOMA W2015. And im trying to freeze on any one of these.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate your help.

Firmware version 1.04:

Remote control now works good in 3D mode, fixed brightness and contrast settings and color parameters.

https://mega.co.nz/#!epYjTQAa!Cb2RGxSVwpZcIZuxcagzBmp8rK55FJr8CXGxm126ZSs

also suitable for TW519.

How do I apply this? And how do I check what firmware I already have? I bought it yesterday and I'm wondering if it's already updated or not (prob not).

On another note:

After checking out my possibilities I ended up buying the Benq TW519 (same as MW519). It cost $480 here, and seemed as the best buy in that price range, I could've gone for a Benq MX660P which on paper has worse resolution, 200 more lumen and worse contrast (5000:1 vs 13000:1) and it cost $50 more. Everyone raves about the Benq W1070 but that cost around $1000 and was way out of my range. The Acer H5370BD was also available but cost $310 more than the TW519, and I didn't think I would get that much more for that much money.

Now that I have it, I don't know if I'll keep it, haha. It is kind of big, but going smaller, paying more and gettig a worse projector is not something I would like (I was originally looking for a small projector, maybe like a pico, or more a big pico), so maybe I'll just get a TV instead. I can't decide at all. I like to fall asleep to movies/TV shows, but I can't put my bed so that I can lie in it and look at a wall where I can project. I know where I'd put the TV, so I'd be able to just turn it towards my bed when sleeping. The 4500 hours lamp thing, and a new lamp costing $150 is also kind of scary, haha.

Also, I think it's too big to take home with me (I am on exchange in another country atm), so I ask you this: I bought it for $480, but how is the "2nd hand projector market"? Will I find it hard to sell in...7-8 months for about $300-$320?

I ordered a BenQ MW519 3D Projector off ebay. $340.00 + $20.00 Shipping from a seller in Columbus Ohio. I wanted it because It can be connected to my Panasonic BDT 110 3D Blu-Ray Player without using an external converter. Also, in case I mess up in fixing the Mitsubishi XD221U-D 3D Projector. This friday December 6 is my 49th birthday. December 7 is my Dad's birthday. He was 25 years old when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
