So has anyone owned or compared this Acer to the Viewsonic PJD7820HD? I currently own the Viewsonic but there was a few times it would not power on so I was going to exchange for another one but now thinking this Acer might offer the better picture out of the 2 of them.

I do a lot of daytime viewing with my kid so I need bright which is why the BenQ W1070 is not in the running and the Optoma 131Xe's throw distance does not work with my setup.

So after owning this Acer for about a week now I must say I definitely like it better than the Viewsonic PJD7820HD.

The overall pq is just better all around. Considering the price of both of these are pretty much the same, I do not see the Viewsonic offering anything over the Acer. I have not tried the 3D with either and probably will not be buying glasses anytime soon.

I am still interested in checking out the BenQ W1070 and if a refurb comes in stock within the next few days I might give it a shot to compare.

Here are a couple of pictures to show the colors and saturation from the Acer through DirectTV. This is on a 100" screen.

Has anyone mounted this projector with a ceiling mount? Any mount in particular that works well with this projector? Any input would be appreciated.

Does this projector have any problems with 24p content? I plan to use it with samsung bd player which can stream 24p content natively and want to make sure I will not have any issues with the picture.

Also what is currently the best price for this unit? Will Newegg have this on sale anytime soon?

Thanks

Is this what 24p means?

"Film Mode: Sets the image optimized to 24-frame
True Film mode for more realistic cadence of film
playback during motion sequences.

This was an option found in the 6510hd manual. Amazon Prime has it for $600.

I watch movies with PS3 and PS4 on 1080p 24hz mode, however the projector shows 1080p 33hz, but no problems with the image.

Neither the PS3 nor the 4 can stream in 24p. . Very few streamers can stream at 24p.

Wow, really too good a deal. I went ahead ordered one to replace existing Optoma HD20. From what I read, finding a suitable ceiling mount for this projector is not an easy task. Can any existing user share the type of mount you are using? Thanks!

I don't think there's a problem using any universal mount. It's just finding the M3 screws that can be a hassle. I asked an associate at a old style Sears hardware store to seek them out because I would have been clueless sorting through those screw bins.

If you are in Canada the Acer.ca store has a promo on until midnight on Dec 17 for the projector and screen bundle for $599cdn with free shipping. When you add the projector to your cart the screen and free shipping come up automatically with no code required. (90 inch screen)

Thanks but I am in the US.

I need to get one of these as my current projector is on its last legs. If there is a promo code, I would appreciate if someone posts it here. I will be checking this thread daily so that I do not miss it again.

As you've probably seen, it's $550 there now. Not quite as enticing as with that promo code, but still not a bad price at all for a pretty good pj. Tempted to pull the trigger myself, but I done spent too much already on other stuff.

Well, it's $500 now, if there are funds left after Christmas. :grinning:

Anyone here come up with a DIY lens cover for this model? Or something commercially available that fits well enough? Much appreciated.

To answer my own question, I bought and received a 52mm generic lens cap on EBay. Works like a champ, fitting the case opening just fine. The actual lens is smaller, but this cover should do a good job keeping dust out and protecting the lens.

Thanks!!!

I was wondering if there was a lens cover that would do the job, I have that projector from August and put it in a plastic bag when not in use, and I´ve never touched that cheap plastic lens, not even to clean

I finally got around to trying to adjust the H6510BD with the Disney WOW disk, and discovered that it is apparently impossible to set the brightness and contrast using the screens the WOW shows. I finally used the advanced tools to do a sort of adjustment that appeared to comply, and ended up with a completely washed out picture. So I am back to Dark Cinema. Anyone have advice on adjusting, or is Dark Cinema as good as it gets (which ain't bad, to be sure)?

Before I bought this projector I knew that it was going to be complicated to calibrate because of the tricky design of the image controls, so I decided that I was going to stick to Cinema or dark cinema mode and enjoy life, I´m not that picky when it comes to image quality, those modes are good enough to me, I know, it could have a better image quality, but I´m OK with the one I get.
