What do you guys think of Visual Apex mounts? If they don't drop the price for the Panny, then I'm going with projector people.

Going to order from PP tomorrow, also. What screen are you using? I was thinking Visual Apex 110 electric tensioned.

So, is the ae8000 a huge upgrade from the ae3000? On paper it is. It has double the contrast of the ae3000, but you may not notice too much of a difference. It's much brighter in all of its modes than the ae3000, but that may not be an issue for you either.
It is new, so you get a new warranty and 3D if you're interested.
Whether all these things will add up to a worthwhile upgrade only you can answer.
Just ask yourself "Am i happy with the unit i have?" If the answer is yes, then you'll save yourself 1500 bucks.
Good info. I tried out a Ae8000 last year, upgrading from my ae4000. The ae8000 is a very nice projector and looked plenty bright with a great picture. Did it blow the picture away over the 4000 .... No not really. But for $1499 that's a great price.

However, I never kept the ae8000. The nail in the confin was the fact that it suffered from an annoying frame drop, stutter issue with some sources .... Which was never a problem on the ae4000 with exactly the same sources. Panasonic claimed it was normal behavior. Pity, because I probably would have kept it.

Anyone else have that problem? I have one being delivered tomorrow.

Best price on Panasonic PT-AE8000

I've run the Chief mount with both the 4000 and 8000. It's my go to mount for every install. As for the "upgrade" I'd say the 8000 is a decent evolution of the Panny projector and will net you some increased brightness. If you want a bigger screen, need/want more light output, and/or are in need of a new bulb for the 4000 then the price of the 8000 is probably worth it. If you are happy with the 4000 and aren't looking to increase brightness or screen size and or have extra bulb(s) stashed then I'd wait to see what comes down the pipe in the next 12 months. The Epson LS10000 and 9600 look pretty interesting and we know that JVC and a Sony are battling in the +$5000 market, and 4k in sub $6000 range is probably gonna happen in the next 12-18 months.

The chief mount works good got it all setup and it looks brighter and clearer then my 3000, I had 1200 hours on the 3000 original bulb. So naturally the 8000 will look better just couldn't pass the 1/2 price deal. Where or what settings do you use on the 8000?

Mine came in today. Hope someone answers your question about settings. Been trying to read as much as I can. Screen comes in next week. Hope to be up and running by the weekend.

No screen yet. So, how was the set up? Pretty straight forward?

Really easy, probably the hardest part is on initial startup everything is upside down and you have to go in the menu upside down to find the tab to flip it the right way.

The adjuster under the cover on the front for vertical and horizontal adjust is OK, remember to unscrew it a little to unlock it.. Otherwise you could break it... Is not as good as the 3000 had IMO. But the zoom and focus etc on the side are better placed... I was going to watch fury last night but didn't... So the superbowl will be the 1st true breaking in other than the initial for about 2 hours... So do you have a wall where your screens going? If so setup even on a wall it will look good...

Okay, thanks. Can't wait to get this system up and running. Hope my Onkyo TX-NR 906 will work for the HDMI switching. It's over six years old.

I'm wondering whether the current sale on the 8000 might mean that Panasonic may be about to release the next PT-series projector. The 8000 has been out for many years now, and it's time.
