Eastcoasttvs.com has the lowest price so far but you will not get the Panasonic rebate and free glasses there.

The workaround is to call bhphotovideo.com and request price match with eastcoasttvs.com!

Yeah, I'd love to find someone that would match as well. Anyone know if Amazon (not a sketchy Amazon reseller, but actual Amazon) is classified as an AD? Despite being OOS, they have it for $2,599 plus the 2% in rewards (~$50). I went ahead and put an order in since I don't need the unit for a month or so, and hope that I can score a better deal in the interim....

EDIT: I just spoke with Panny and Amazon are not considered an AD. Oddly the rep said that BH was not on the list of ADs despite being shown on the website as one....odd...confused.gif

Projector People has it for $2599 and you get $499 in savings! Receive a 3-year limited warranty, $100 cash rebate and two pairs of 3D glasses free with your purchase.

Here is the link: http://www.projectorpeople.com/projectors/projdtls.asp?itemid=27643&itmname=Panasonic+PT%2DAE8000U

They are also an authorized dealer linked directly from Panasonics site.

I was really hoping to have an AE8000 for my new HT for week 1 of the NFL, but when do you guys think they will go on clearance to make way for the next model? Since Panny uses authorized dealers, do you think the clearance prices will be more controlled than what you see on sites like Newegg or Woot for other brands?

Projector People also will usually also give you better prices if you call them with another lower price.

If you're talking about authorized Panasonic dealers then yes, prices are more controlled than other projector companies. Most of the authorized Panasonic dealers are offering the same rebate and free 3D glasses deal.

You may want to try posting your question in the Official Owners' Thread, Panasonic PT-AE8000U (US version) / PT-AT6000E (European version) thread over in the $3000+ forum.

Dang it! Why does Audio General have to be in PA! That's $140+ in sales tax.

Have it shipped to a friend just over the state line and then drive over to pick it up from them. You probably won't burn up $140 in gas, even if they are in Florida!

Visual Apex has an open box for $2199, however I don't know if all of the above benefits are part of the purchase.

So deals are available if you just look.

That'll only make it for me one way, not round trip. Not the way I drive. But I do have a friend in NJ which I can ship to, though he's hardly at home since he's a doctor. I work from home so it's perfect for me. But I guess I can hang out at his place until it arrives.

Open box never qualifies for rebates, unless the it's noted on the invoice as new and not as open box. With VA, if it's open box, it'll be noted as open box. But it's a great deal on a open box though! If there were no rebate at this time, that would be sold in a heart beat.

As mentioned Projector People has it for ~$50 more than Audio General and is an authorized dealer. You'd likely spend that in gas money getting to NJ and back.

Thanks for keeping the prices up to date in this thread.. I'm subscribed, hoping it drops below 2k soon so I can pull the trigger. Is east coast TV's an authorized seller?

These are over a year old now so I'm assuming a new model is coming.. any rumours about that yet?

The $350 rebate through authorized resellers expired on 3/31/14. Thankfully, an identical rebate that's good 4/1/14 through 9/30/14! VisualApex has it for $2,399 - $350 = $2,049.

I'm ready to upgrade my Panasonic PT-AE900U that I bought in 2005 and this is the one I have my eye on! smile.gif

That's become the defacto rebate now. Even Projector People offers it.

http://www.projectorpeople.com/Panasonic-PTAE8000U/Projector/27643

That's a nice price for this projector. Anyone waiting for something lower will likely not see it as Panasonic has pretty tight control on its authorized dealers.

I was hoping I would see it eventually below $2k, or on clearance when the new model arrives. But I don't think there is any timeline for a product refresh, is there?

Nope.

As far as a refresh of the Panasonic projector line, there is no word of any new models. At any rate any refresh it wouldn't occur until October.

This is a 2012 model...Panasonic used to refresh yearly right?

Maybe tech hasn't advanced enough to make them feel a refresh is warranted?

projector point has it for $2350-$350 rebate as well - and is an authorized retailer. Linked off from Panasonic's web site directly:
http://www.projectorpoint.com/products/28981/PT-AE8000U.aspx

Still hoping for it to come down just a tiny bit! lol tongue.gif

FYI - Visual Apex is also listed as an authorized dealer off Panasonic's site: http://www.panasonic.com/business/projectors/pt-ae8000u.asp
