Yes, those spots are caused by dust. They can come and go.

Yep, people return a perfectly good projector for dust blobs only to get another that WILL get dust blobs, or a refurb that may even be worse.

LCD's are not sealed, they cannot survive the temperatures in a sealed light path. This will always happen.

It was quite common in the very early days of LCD projectors to take them in for cleaning.
