Although I'm not in the market for a projector right now I don't want to move my mount when something does come up. I just finished moving my screen and projector back to accommodate a cheap plasma so I could have a few more options and test out 3d. One of the screws stripped out in the ceiling when I went to move my mount and the other broke off. So it ended up being more of a hassle than I thought it would be. I now have my epson 8350 about 15 feet from the screen. This puts it slightly behind my seating area and works out nicely. So I guess that I'm asking will this be a good distance for future options? Some of the newer stuff like the W1070 seem to have short throw distances.

There is no ideal mounting distance for all projectors. I think 12' to 15' is typical. It depends on what you buy in the future.
