Hi ,I was Wondering if anyone thinks the acer h6510 or benq w1070 will be an upgrade over a Mitsubishi 4000hc, in terms of overall picture quality.
I use the projector strictly for watching movies and really dont care for 3d?
Thinking about upgrading but not sure if its worth it.

Let me know Thanks!

I think they would be if you wanted to watch 3d, but for 2d content, the improvement might not be worth the cost of the upgrade.

I think we would need to know a lot more about how you are using your Mits 4000hc. Room dimensions, screen size, lighting conditions, your future plans (for example to use on porch, in living room.) What do you like about the mit's 4000hc and what do you not like about your current PJ. Why are you thinking of upgrading? How many hours on bulb do you have? Because then the guys can comment whether FOR YOU, it would be an upgrade or not. If you are only in bat cave and the picture is bright enough for you, and the bulb is plenty bright. Maybe hold off.
Would you like the option of 3d, occasionally? Where is your PJ mounted right now?

I would call AVS Science Store about a B-stock JVC HD250 (Call: 585-671-2968), it's in almost the same price range as you are looking (a few hundred more).

The Benq would be a LOT LOT brighter than the Mits, in that sense it might be an upgrade, and the focus is more uniform if you get a good sample, but I wouldn't go that route for an upgrade. I would go for a low-end JVC as the improvement for movies will be much greater than any of these.
