You will need to get 3D glasses that are DLP link, not IR or RF.
However the 3D experience I have was at best mediocre because the lumens of this projector is not great for 3D.
Yes some parts of the game Ratchet and Clank a Crack in time the 3D was good and some parts it was mediocre.
The glasses I got on Amazon were $ 19.00 plus shipping and handling.
However ? a light controlled room this is a great projector for movies and I am satisfied with how the football games look on the TV tuner.

The LG apps for the projector are pretty useless. . .

We're using a temp DIY screen as well, Home Depot MDF 1/4" this painted white on one side — comes that way for about $15. The picture is pretty good. I've compared it to melamine and white Sherwin Williams — the Sherwin Williams is the best but really needs to be sprayed, but this one is pretty good for under $20. We picked up a fixed 106" from Costco but have yet to unbox it.

I do like your idea of using the rigid foam insulation board. . . might try that with Sherwin Williams.

Curious how the Optoma compares. I did a lot of research on the hybrid LED/Laser models, due to their higher lumens. However, I came away less than impressed. In general people were having color issues, especially long term use, and the lasers seemed to have problems over the long run as well. So, I went with all LED smile.gif

It's the same as buying a TV with those apps and one without those apps.
I can get the same thing with my PS3, that is ? if I want to.
Just more marketing so the sales person can tell the people who great the TV is with those apps.
So as long as it didn't cost a arm and a leg I really could careless with those apps.
Maybe I am right maybe I am wrong but the new LGPF80G has LAN, Optical S/PDIF, 2 HDMI , one of the ports with ARC, better optics and lens, so it seems that LG might have been lurking here on AVS forums because that's what many of us were complaining about in the lack of those on the LGPA70G.

I ended up getting the PA75U a week or so ago.  I opted for that one instead of the PA70G.  Got it from newegg for $650.  It has way more features and supports most all 3d formats instead of the PA70G only supporting 3d from PC.  Also the PA75U has a few smart TV features and a digital TV tuner.  I'm pretty happy with it.  I was going for a cheap home theater so it worked out perfectly, plus I wanted the option of having 3D that would work with Blue Ray players and other devices.

I've not had a chance to try out the 3D yet cause I ordered my glasses directly through Sainsonic, but am still waiting for them to arrive.  Takes a bit of time to go from China to the US through USPS.  If I would have known it was going to take this long, I would have ordered from somewhere else, or chose a different shipping method to get them here.

As far as picture quality, I'm impressed.  on 720p and 1080p modes, there are also all kinds of other video/color advanced options to fully tweak the picture.  It also has a picture setup wizard that's pretty nice for getting the colors, contrast, saturation, etc adjusted.  Not sure why they didn't have those advanced functions available for the native resolution of 1280x800.

So far, I've not noticed any rainbow effects at all.  Colors are extremely vibrant, and blacks are pretty dark.  I've not had any focus issues at all, and I have approx 113" diagonal screen.  It does have a feature called tru-motion that I really don't care for.  When enabled it makes movements in the video more fluid.  It's a pretty neat feature, but I just don't like it.

It does not have a zoom feature, which was okay for me, but would really help someone to adjust the projected size to fit their screen.  I actually used the screen calculator from projector central, then put my projector on a mount attached to a board in my drop ceiling, so I could adjust it forward and backward until I got the screen size I wanted.  Then I built my screen based on that size.

What's funny is I was going to originally buy the PA70G, but came across the PA75U on some reviews.  I couldn't find it on LG's website anywhere when I was researching projectors.  Now it's there on LG's website.

But, Newegg has the LG PA75U for $650... but has a promo for $50 off today with a coupon code they show on the page for $600...

I think LG has instructions somewhere on their site. I got it working when we first got the projector, however, since the audio out is two channel only I dumped it and use HDMI only. And can't remember the details of setting it up — what little I can remember is, it wasn't too difficult but I did find the LG instructions.

Sorry can't be of more help.

hi guys, ive been looking into these LG pjs and cant find this pa75u model anywhere in EU, it is available in some EU country?
u can get pa70 around 500 eur and pb60 400 eur, so dont like the idea importing this outside EU with heavy taxes..

edit: also if u can suggest which model to go with, it would be appreciated. budget is a bit issue here so there for im gonna skip pf80

It took a while before they showed the pa75u. I thought they had discontinued it, but I guess it was just that New.

based on what I've read, I think they wont be relasing PA75U in Europe, probably they just didn't create a EU DTV compliant model and that's it.

so I guess I've gotta look after PB60 or PA70, apart the differences they both have the same problems (like focus issue) ?

thx for this too. yes, I too think its unfortunate.

not sure about all EU countries, but in Finland we're dependent on availability in DE/UK,

although we have some LED projectors available, some models are seriously overpriced.

basically 200-300 EUR over the DE/UK prices.

also many stores sell only online so you can't take a peek what the projector can actually do :)

EDIT: just a side note: LG tv/monitor availability also sucks here, not just the projectors.

Yes, but in addition in USA the LG´s projectors are much cheaper than in Europe.

From what I`ve gathered it may have to do with TV tuner - I picked up a new pa75u from US of A recently and haven`t been able to get the tv to work- haven`t tried all the options yet but i do not think it will ever work since signal is coded differently so usability of whole model goes down. I`m based in Europe. Same thing may be true for Korea - can`t say for sure but I think K models would actually work in EU nut not in USA. Rest of functions are same and fine - wifi seems bit weak and tends to loose signal. Apart from that for under 500 I couldn`t be more pleased even if I`m a tot bothered with rbn artifacts.

Im guessing but the tuner will pick North american OTA channels and unencrypted cable channels in cable networks that haven't gone totally encrypted like Commiecast in the Boston area did!

Recently I couldn't connect my galaxy Tablet to TV(via HDMI) as the TV doesn't support MHL but it has HDMI 1.4 with ARC. But when I took it to store, there it works on a TV which had HDMI MHL compatible.

Never heard of that model of Benq - you could get a PA75U for about 500 with a bit of luck. I`m actually on a mission to buy another one for my friend. I`ve limited time during the week to play with it - figured out option to stream using wifi form a pc - works like a charm - no lags either.

If I was anyone else, I'd still get the PA75 model over the PA70, even if you couldn't use the TV Tuner.  It has quite a few more features over the PA70 that make it worthwhile.  Especially if you're wanting to have 3d capabilities.

I don't use the TV Tuner at all.

Hey just a heads up everyone- this projector is on sale for 499 at Amazon.com and Newegg. No tax when shipped from newegg plus was able to use coupon BFSPECIAL5P2 to bring it down to 475 shipped! You can buy at bestbuy and have them pricematch it to the Amazon price if you feel more comfortable picking it up in a brick and mortar store.   http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?SID=X72H5la7EeOZAur7UEsVTAK2h5_8HAp3_0_0_0&AID=10440897&PID=1225267&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-cables-_-na-_-na&Item=N82E16824005485&cm_sp=    http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-PA75U-Projector-Resolution/dp/B00C13ON7K/ref=sr_1_1?t=slickdeals&tag=slickdeals&ascsubtag=YQkIFFa7EeOR2rLaqH5k_QK2h5_8HAp3_0_0_0&ie=UTF8&qid=1385482667&sr=8-1&keywords=pa75u

Hi folks. Wondering if anyone can help with my query here.

I am in the UK, but I think this model is not available for sale in Europe, is this correct?

If I buy this from Amazon.com and get it shipped to the UK, is it just an adapter I will next for the plug?

Does the US version support 240V? Or only 110V?

If it only supports 110V, I guess I will need to get a step down converter like this? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Voltage-Step-Down-Converter-Plug/dp/B003OSRITG
