Obviously this has to be engaged to power the projector (the little switch that turns on when you close the lamp door).

But does it have any other purpose?

I'd like to get on the PCB and solder it closed all the time -- I see 2 pins marked TH SW ? Anyone know where it is on the PCB.

answer my own question -- they don't want idle hi voltage in there so you can't power up when you remove lamp.
