Seen a lot of posts on the H6510BD, but anyone have the H5370BD 720p version. Im on a super tight budget and was able to get this out the door for $404. Specs seem pretty similar to 6510 except for resolution of course and little less brightness (2500 lumens vs 3000). I used to have the 5360 and thought is was pretty good for the price. This one seems to have upgraded calibration controls, with a color management system included. Haven't seen any reviews on the 5370, guess its too new.

I'm on a tight budget and it just arrived today. My last projector was a Sanyo PLV-Z2 so I also had to buy a new receiver and 30 ft HDMI cable. Looking forward to the 3D when the glasses arrive. I hooked up my phone (note 2) through mhl adapter and that works. The only issue I am concerned about is rainbow affect. I've already noticed it and I guess I'm sensitive to it. I have zero calibration expertise so if anyone has some suggestions I am all ears.

I got mine a few days ago. 2d performance is decent with average black levels and pretty good shadow detail and contrast. I'm using gamma 1, color temp CT2, brilliant color and dynamic black off. I no longer have a colorimeter to calibrate, but gamma 1 on the 5360 measured close to 2.2 and it looks pretty similar on the 5370. It seems to have significant moire shimmering problems on straight lines that the previous 5360 did not have. Its not too bad while watching actual movies, only noticeable on some scenes (ie opening WB credit from Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows Part 2). It also does not remember the brilliant white setting, so I have to turn it off everytime I turn the projector on.

Edit - Previously posted 3d mode was washed out. I use a different software player to watch 3d vs 2d movies. Turns out the player used for 3d was outputting a different dynamic range than my 2d player. Once I fixed that, 3d looked normal. Black level wasn't great, but picture contrast wasnt washed out and looked like my old 5360.

HI Peoples,

I'm looking to do a 3d surround projector gaming setup and i was wondering if it works as 3d vision or if it is a 3d TV Play. The reason why i ask is if its not 3d vision enabled it wont play 3d content at 120 frames per second and i wont be able to link the 3 projectors together for 3d vision surround. 3d tv pretty much sucks at 24 frames per second.

thanks

I think 3d tv play. I don't see any options in the menu to switch to 3d without the dlp link. Not positive though

I was wondering if you can help me.

Ive been looking for 3 projectors for a 3d vision surround setup but i can not find any that are in stock or still being made (acer h5360 original & optoma gt720). All the new projectors appear to be going 3dtv play instead and i dont think that works in surround mode and i think they run at 24 fps per second instead of the 120/60fps with 3d vision.

i was even looking at the aaxa 3d led showtime and thought maybe i can hack it to work with 3d vision. what is your advise. all i want is 3 projectors running in 3d surround.

@hatlesschimp: if you want a projector for 3d vision the best choices are: acer h5360, optoma hd600x-lv and benq w700 or w710st (short throw). the optoma gt720 is old and hard to find. the newest models have hdmi 1.4, that means frame-packing 3d and you have to use nvidia 3dtv play for 3d 720p120. i don't think there are projector that supports 1080p120 like 3d vision monitors.

about this model, it's very sad to read this things from who tried it. it's seems like the old h5360bd is way better than this one and it costs less. considering that this model was for games and movies both 2d and 3d, it's very disappointing that Acer has not made any progress about rainbow and 3d mode...

i guess i'll wait until september, then i'll make my choice. no way i play gta v on my 27inch monitor...

Thanks SignorMiyagi

Im thinking of going a 3 led setup and forgetting about 3d vision for the moment. Maybe even landscape and get 2400 x 1280 @ 120hz @ 2metres diag. but ill have to rear project for it to work. So ill have to look into them issues.

Does led have rainbow effect?

for that price you can buy a real epson (with way better quality) and the dvi port means nothing since it's not 3d ready. for the other question, no 3lcd projectors don't suffer the rainbow effect.

anyway, this is the h5370bd thread...

I think he was asking if LED-based PJs (DLP) suffer from rainbow effect... and yes, they do.

What glasses are you guys using?

I picked up some older 120 hz sainsonics, but they didn't work for 120 hz material. (Will blu-rays play at 144hz?)

Need to find cheap glasses for my h5370bd
